Restraining order issued for 2 city areas

A temporary restraining order,
banning larcje street (s'athenn^s
Saturday in twu tity areas, was
issued Tuesday by dud^e Paul
O'Connell. of I sab, lla County 21 st
District Court
The temporary restraining
order prohibits the planning,
conducting or participating in
lare;.- street parties in the areas of
Main Street and Kd^vwood Apart
ments Saturday.
The restraining order,
requested Monday by Isabella
County Prosecutor Joseph
Flarberi, deems involvement in
street parties tn those areas a
misdemeanor. Those arrested face
jail terms, pay fines and'or restitution
The police may cordon the two
areas, similar to last year's Knd of
the World party in May, any time
City Police Chief Martin Trombley
determines those areas are unsafe
for residents
The temporary order is effective
between 1 p m Saturday and 4
a rn. Sunday, said I-arry Hurdick.

new writing curriculum

Comb.itting increased enrollment and a new writing curriculum,
University officials will fijjht back with six additional full-time
i-ciiiivale-nt positions next semester.
The added laculty-staff positions will carry a $150,(><)<> price tag.

Open forum after SGA meeting to ,
address campus party problems /%
Party problems and solutions will be the topic at an open forum
immediately following Student Government Association's
Thursday meeting.
Parties during Western weekend and the End of the World
celebrations will be the focus, but general concerns about parties
also will be aired.
The temporary restraining order put into effect this week by the
county prosecutor's office allowing the city police to put up potior
lines to prevent large gatherings of people will undoubtably be a
topic, SGA President Pam Weaver Mid.
Although both sides of the issue — that of the students And the
city — will be explored. Weaver, Warren senior, stressed the forum
will be a discussion and not a debate. v . .
Several city and University officials will be present, to discuss
