Abel said Senter's petition is not the only concern expressed by
members of the I'niversitv community. Members of the Sociology
Association presented a similar petition lo Abel Friday with more
than 1.000 student signatures.
"I've certainly not enough of them." Abel said. "Tin* purpose of a
petition ts to show concern, and I've received enough information to
know there's concern out there."
And while he said he appreciates Senter's concern that sonu-t him;
needs to be done. Abel said curbing the sexual assault problem is
not something that can be done overnight.
"What .she's asking is that we don't put this thini; on the back
shelf and we're not." Abel said. "Hut I don't know if v ou'll see anv
action by March 1.
