New Associate Dean
SSenate Approves Preston Court Rent Rates Set
Course Evaluation
byJIMBRAKORA
Life News Editor
Course evaluation, once a students dream, may soon
[ibecome a reality, provided the proposed plan passed by
J Student Senate is approved by University Senate.
The plan for course evaluation was submitted io Student
I Senate by Jill Johnson, chairman of a student-faculty committee which was set up last
Ispring to investigate the possibilities of such a plan.
The plan, accepted by S-Sen-
;"ate Monday night, with recommended changes, will be sent to
fUniyersity Senate and hopefully adopted. University Sen-
fate meets next Monday.
The original proposal made
bo provision for publication of
[Die results of the evaluation.
FThis, the committee felt, would
[insure its defeat in U-Sehate.
The Educational Awareness
IjCommittee of S-Senate, which
Sshtdied the plan, recommended
;that the evaluation form be di-
lyided into two parts. The first
Ifwould include evaluation of
?the instructor and .his conduct
j-of the course itself. This would
|C;be retained by the instructor.
The second part, which
Jwould include evaluation on
rthe course itself, would be sub-
pitted by the instructor for
([publication.
Both the original plan and
I\ the revised plan will be sent
;;to University Senate for conization and possible approval.
I* In other Senate action a pro-
fposa], presented by Senator
j Tom Hiscock, calling for the
Ifcreation of a committee to

Election Rules
Undergo Study
Student Body President Bob
Ballard announced in Student
Senate Monday night that he
is setting up an executive
committee to study the rules
and procedures of student body
elections and to look into possible changes.
• The committee will include
the elections committee, of
which he himself is* chairman,
plus a member of Student Judiciary and two or three members of the Student Senate.
Chairman of the committee
will be David Winans, off-
campus senator.
The action came as a result
of an alleged ballot box stuffing incident in the April 5
student body elections and a
recent student court injunction
requesting an investigation of
the charges.
According to the student
body constitution, the elections
committee is responsible for
the rules and procedure of student body elections. This
clause will be circumvented by
the fact that the elections committee is incorporated into the
executive committee.
The committee will report
back to the Student Senate but
will not be considered a Senate committee.

Preston Rent Sel
Rent rates for Preston Court
have been set at $10 per week.
The finance committee made
the recommendations based on
the current dorm rate of $8 a
week and the average off-
campus rent rate of S10-$15.
The new associate dean has
held her position at Alfred
University since 1959. She
held the position of assistant
dean of women at Grove City
(Pa.) College and was dean of
women at Juniata College in
Huntington, Va.
Miss Bechtell received her
BS degree from Grove City

Rests On Administration
Action on the continuation of the Men's Union concert series
is still pending.
The final decision rests with Dean of Students C. Milton
Pike, his assistant, Glenn Starner and Alban Coen U, administrative assistant in academic affairs.
"It will be my recommendation," said Starner, "that Central
continue to have concerts on campus. However, I don't think
they should be presented in a series form as was done previously."
Total losses for the series-are not known yet but are estimated at between $4,500 and $6,500.
Last week's Al Hirt concert sold 2,500 jtickets, more than
any other concert.-
Starner suggested that one way to make up the financial
loss would be to "have one concert planned for the fall If we
make money, then we can have another. But I don't think we
should seE seasonal tickets for a concert series."
BARBARA BECHTELL
district officer of the national
council of Alpha Lambda Delta and holds the office of advisory dean on the national
board of Owens.
Also at the meeting, resignations and retirements were approved by the Board. Five of
the retirees will be honored at
a banquet in the University
Center at 6:30 Wednesday
evening. They are Doris Crip-
pof Kenneth Bordine, Ivan
Cole. Herbert Curry and Kenneth (Bill) Kelly.
