Senate Takes Aim
At Board Once More
By Neil Hopp
Life Editor in Chief
The University Senate
passed a toned-down resolution Monday that took another blow at the Board of
Trustees' recent adoption of
a new administration from
[ selection process.
After coming to a 19-19 tie
vote on an original resolution
introduced b y William Bulger, associate professor of history, the Senate - passed a
twice-amended resolution expressing dissent with the
Board action of June 29.
The original resolution read:
"Resolved: The University
Senate condemns the Board
of Trustees of Central Michigan University for its decision
of June 29, 1966, concerning
the policy on appointment of
deans, vice presidents and
presidents. The University

undemocratic, biased cumbersome, harmful to faculty members and therefore unacceptable. The University Senate
strongly requests the Board
of Trustees to meet with the
Rivard Committee so that an
acceptable policy may b e
speedily developed."
Questions 'Condemned'
' The resolution drew immediate criticism from Wilbur E.
Moore, vice president of academic affairs.
"Are you more likely to get
a review by insulting them?,"
he asked. "I am greatly concerned about this word condemned. What do we hope to
gain by this?"
After considerable discussion, an amendment was moved to substitute "expresses its
dissatisfaction" for the word
"condemns" and to strike the
second sentence entirely from
the resolution.

" gowns and were each asked
three questions by Master of
Ceremonies Joe Sweeney.
"Do blondes really have more
fun?" was the humorous question asked Queen Sandy. Her
answer was an emphatic
"Yes."
To always have respect for
roommates' feelings and possessions was her advice to
freshmen. And in her third
response she said that a girl
needn't overpower a boy by
telling him how intelligent she
is.
She contends that a girl is
recognized as intelligent by
her manner of acting and
speaking.
With the slogan "Si Si
Sandy," the AST's and PSE's
followed the homecoming
theme "Fiesta" through their
presentation of Miss Richmond. She rode into the field-
house in a small Mexican cart.
Her sponsors then sang her
presentation song to a calypsolike melody.
The girls have majors ranging from speech, home economics and math to social science and physical education.
Each member of the homecoming royalty plans a future
which includes teaching and
marriage.
