Sandra Palise To Reign
'67 Winter Carnival Plans Set
Unlike a true fairy-tale ending, 1966 Snow Princess, Sandra Palise, Dearborn junior,
didn't have the opportunity to
reign over Central's scheduled 1966 winter carnival. The
villian in disguise was "old-
man winter" who didn't provide enough snow for what
was to be the first winter carnival in Central's history.
This year the fairy-tale has
been rewritten and Miss Palise will reign over the 1967
winter carnival on Jan. 13 and
14 no matter what the weather! Her court from last year
will also help this year with
the winter carnival duties.
They are: Jeannine Nantau,
Connie Lashaway, Pat Parna-
cott and Donna Pender.
Carnival sponsors, Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and the
festivities will be carried out,
with the exception of the
snow sculptures if the weather
doesn't cooperate.
All housing units and campus organizations are asked to
join the snow sculpturing contest which revolves around the
theme "Fantasies in the
Snow."
If the residence halls and
organizations submitted an entry last year it will still be
accepted this year. If not then
all entries have to be turned
in to carnival chairmen b y
Jan. 9.
Entries can be mailed to
Winter Carnival Chairman, Pi
Kappa Phi Fraternity, 508 S.
College, Mt. Pleasant.
The two-day carnival will-
be highlighted by game competition between the "Greeks"
and residence balls and snow
game events for both men and
women.
Snow sculptures will be
judged on the basis of originality, closeness to theme and
general appearance.
A dance held in the gymnasium Saturday, Jan. 14 will
honor the Snow Princess and
her court. Trophies will also
be awarded at that time.

in association with U.S. governmental limitations concerning freedom of speech.
The debate will be held
Monday at 8 p;m. in'Warriner

• ACLU' memberARay Kern
states that Mazey is-one of the
most outspoken and authoritative sources on civil liberties,
in the state. • ..A-.A . ' '_
Another ACLU member, Kurt
Ciske said that after hearing
both'men speak on related
topics that, "They are both
definitely well recognized experts in the affairs of civil
liberties."
He added, "I think it would
be interesting to see Durant
attempt to justify the restrictions of the .basic rights he
claims to defend."
Kern, also a committee member of Symposio '66, stated
that the debate would be rewarding in that the information disclosed would deliver a
provoking analysis of both the
liberal and conservative philosophies concerning civil liberties and their limitations.
The debate is the third in a
series of symposios brought before the students by the University Center program board.
The, board initiated the Sym-
