Get Top Honors
The top honors of valedictorian
and salutatorian for the senior
class , on campus students of 1947,
were received by Alice Jane White,
Elberta, and Patty Looman, Man-
nington, West Virginia.
Alice Jane has been secretary
and vice-president of Sigma Tau
Delta and * treasurer Of Phi Delta
Eta. Shejte a past feature editor of
the Chippewa and received both
the freshman and the state board
scholarship. As a member.I >she- has
been actively associated with Kappa. Delta Pi,. A, W. S., and.the Glee
Club.. She has also been listed in
"iVho's Who Among Students in
American "' Universities and Colleges." .-'•-■
Patty, has served as president of
Alpha Psi Omega and as secretary
of the Masquers. During 1946, she
received the award of Excellence in
Dramatics. She is a past house
president ahd has. been active in
A.W.S., Appleblossom cluto, Y.W.C.
A., and Kappa Delta Pi.
Little Sisters
Dinner, June 23
Dr. D. Louise Sharp, dean of
Women, announced that the summer school Big-Little Sister dinner will take place June 23 at
Keeler union. Big Sisters will be assigned to all little sisters and are expected to- help the little sister fit
into the social activity of the college.
The faculty reception for all
summer school students will take
place at Keeler union Wednesday,
June 25 at 8:15 pan. It is expected
that the faculty will dress formally
However men and' women students
may dress formally or informally.
A joint party sponsored by the
Men's union and Associated Women
Students will occur tfhe second or
third week of the summer term.
Award Certificates
for Short Courses
Air June graduates from the one
year secretarial, two year secretarial, or one year agricultural
oourses will be entitled to a certificate of achievement if they notify the Recorder in the student
personal office.
This ' regulation is retroactive,
thus entitling any previous short
course graduate to receive the certificate by applying to the Recorder.
After July 1, 1947, aU graduates
' from the .short courses will receive
their certificate if they pay a regular fee* for such certification.
There will-»e no charge for this
service before July 1:
In view of the large number of
Ceniferalites treking to the altar
this summer, it is humored that
the Isabella, county courthouse* has
ordered aA new sign designating it
as the' "Hitching Post."

Annual Five-Day Coaching School
in Session Here During August
- The fdrst annual MJLS.A.A. Summer Coaching School will *be in
session at Central Michigan college.
August 18 to 22, 1947 with Daniel
P. Rose as director. The faculty
will be composed of such nationally
known coaches as "Bo" McMiUen
of Indiana football fame, "Bud"
Foster who coaches the basketball
•champions at Wdsteonsin, and,
"Jack" F,eppinstall, a recognized
authority in the field of prevention
and care- of injuries, of Michigan,
State. Each of the faculty has had
a successful coaching career and
their • experiences will be made,
available to- those in attendance at,
the Coaching school. Plenty of. op-,
portunity will be provided for ques-'
tions and problems.
Movies will be shown and play-,
ing and officiating rules will be
discussed, as well as prevention of
injuries and football and basketball
conditioning. In this "open session"
opportunity will be provided for
questions by coaches concerning
State Association policies as they
have been' established by the
Representative council. Questions
will be answered to the best of the
State Director's ability.
The" charge for the five days of
the Coaching school' session is $15^
This- includes housing at. Keeler:
union, and meals at the .cafeteria.

University. of Rochester, his MLA.
degree from Harvard university,
his Ph. D. from Harvard university,-' and his LL.D. from the University of Rochester.- He has written
many articles and short stories for
national educational magazines.
Commencement exercises Will be
held Saturday,' June 14, at- 10:45
a.im., in Warriner auditorium. There
wiU be no reserved- seats for commencement but, according to Professor George R, Wheeler, agriculture department head and senior-class advisor, admission will be
by ticket. Each senior is entitled to
four of these tickets, two for the
main floor and one for the balcony

Cabinet Passes .
Liquor Regulation
A new regulation has been passed
by the cabinet which provides that
students who ibrittg liquor into
college owned buildings shall be subject to severe discipline. If •flhese
students 'live in college- owned
housing, they will have to relinquish
their rooms.
This regulation applies to all
campus.buildings and any*buildings
in which off-campus parties are
held. ' '
Tihese. recommendations came
from the.'.state board of education
arid'must-be enforced. The recant*
mendations classify "liquor" as any
alcholic beverage.
