Co-eds Mend Required Assembly
as Frosh Women Lose Glamour
On Wednesday evening Nov. 14,
all the girls on Central's campus
from the mighty seniors to the
green "frosh" met together in an
all girl assembly for the purpose
of beginning the annual freshman
initiation program.
Mary Eddy, president of A. W. S.,
which annually sponsors this event,
opened the meeting with several
announcements concerning campus
activities. She then introduced Jo
Hedges, Chicago sophomore, who
led the" group in singing, accompanied by Jane White, Elberta junior. Dorothy Sweeney, Mt. Pleasant senior, rnd Jackie Barett, Detroit senior, better known as Dot
and Dash, entertained with a tap
number. Virginia Guy, Saginaw,
and Meegan Kelly, Cadillac, the
two freshman nominees for the
A. W. S. Board, were introduced.
The program was then turned
over to Alma Argo, Flint junior and
Sally Carnahan,. Mt. Pleasant sophomore, who were in charge of the
rules for freshman initiation. The
rules were read and explained.
Three freshman girls modeled the
costumes to be worn during the initiation period which caused much
groaning and sighing on the part of
the freshman and laughter from
the upperclass women. <

nan were much the same on Wednesday night after the assembly as
the "frosh" hurried from room to
room in search' of ■ flowers, white
shirts, etc, to be worn on Thursday.
The campus Thursday morning was
filled with maty palefaced "frosh"
in long shirts, pumps and pin-curled hair.
General rules for the two days
favored the upper class women in
more ways than one, because of the
non-fraternization between freshman girls and all men on campus.
On Friday many a quizzical eyebrow was raised as the freshmen
painted an extra eyebrow to give
them that exclusive look.
On Saturday night, Nov. 7, the
climax of freshman initiation came
with the party honoring all ''frosh"
from 7:30 to 8:00 in the gym. Millie
Vanderlip, Gowen junior, was in
charge of the party.
