Matinee Dance
Today at Keeler
Another matinee dance will be
held in the Keeler ballroom this
afternoon from 4:30 to 6 o'clock.
Although the second matinee dance
of the year was cancelled because
of a conflict, the first dance was
well attended and indicates student
approval of the continuation of
these social mixers.
A committee composed of college
students with Miss Grace Fettig as
chairman has been appointed. The
members are: Dorothy Pratt, Davison junior; Mildred Busch,. Bay
City Sophomore; Lewis Woodruff,
Belding junior; and Robert Now-
land, Mt. Pleasant freshman. Their
duties include inviting chaperons
to the dances and making entertainment plans.

Opponents for Class Presidencies
Boh Wardrop Is Elected Men's Union President As Several
Candidates Win Offices by Small Margin in Last Week's
Election
Last minute pians for the Christmas ball are being decided
by co-chairmen Pat Jahnke, Dorothy Pratt, and Ed Grant.
Proceeds from the Christmas Ball,
which is to be held next Saturday
evening from 9 to 12 p. m., will a-
gain be, donated to the Student
Loan fund.
The annual affair, which is co-
sponsored by the Associated Women
Students, Student council and
Men's union, will be in charge of
Patricia Jahnke, Saginaw sophomore; Edward Grant, Ionia junior;
and Dorothy Pratt, Davison junior.
Tickets for the dance for which
Johnny Barnes and his 10 piece orchestra from Ionia have been selected to play, are now on sale in
the Dean of Women's office at $1.80
a couple. Corsages will not be banned from the dance as had been the
custom during the war years.
The decorations committee consists of: Carol Tessto, Freeland
junior, chairman; Louise Slykes,
Ionia sophomore; Donna Ingersoll,
Lake City sophomore; Jesse Milne,
Saginaw junior; Louis Woodruff,
Belding junior Donald Spence,
Saginaw junior; Russel Spaulding,
ABC Play at
Reservation Mon.
"Little Wolf and The Wooden
Shoe," an 'English translation of a
French story, will be presented in
the form of a play at the Indian
reservation Monday, December 17,
by the Appleblossom club.
The theme of the story is peace
on earth, good will toward men.
Members of the cast are: Dorothy
Austin, Ovid isophomore; Marian
Kenaga, Cadillac junior; Margaret
Rachner, Boyne Falls sophomore;
Virginia Pihgot, Pinconning freshman; Jo Ann Medler, Flint sophomore; Elinor Haskell, Kalamazoo
freshman; Helen Holmstrom, Ludington, sophomore and Lucille Fe-
dawa, Ionia sophomore. Janet Graham, Alma junior, is chairman of
dramatic. OeoKgjia iClendening,
iGladwin junior is chairman of the
;music vhich will be interwoven with
the play.
i Miss Barnes, faculty advisor, is
assisting Miss Graham who is in
charge of the play.
Saginaw freshman; Keith Crocker,
Saginaw freshman; Lloyd Eller-
thorpe, Midland freshman; and
Forrest Wyckoff, Roscomman sophomore.
The program will be planned by
Georgia Clendenning, Gladwin
junior, chairman; Madeline Merritt,
Bay City senior; Jacqueline Barritt, Detroit senior; Donna Gover,
Mt.. Pleasant freshman; Janet Duncan, Clare junior; and Donna Cran-
dal, Petoskey junior.
Invitations and refreshments will
be managed by Bea Trucks, Saginaw junior, chairman; Joyce Cro-
nin, Center Line sophomore; and
Lorine Muntz, Cass City sophomore.
Publicity will be in charge of
Betty Gillett, Mt. Pleasant junior
assisted by Joan Hedges, Chicago

Donate to Needy
"Good Will to All" could be the
theme of the Home Economics club
Christmas project. Under the chairmanship of Joyce Griffin, Stanwood junior, the.- club members contribute money or clothing, buy food,
and make dolls and toys to be given
to one or two families, who the Mt.
Pleasant Christmas committee
packs baskets for at Christmastime.
The members of the club will
work on individual projects at the
next meeting December 12. They
will meet December 14 to pack baskets to be delivered to needy families by a selected group and Miss
Rose Hogue, advisor of the club.
Newly elected president of the
Home Economics club is Dorothy
Ward Bartsch, Bellaire senior. Mrs.
Bartsch will fill the vacancy created when Jeannette Beutler was unable to return to school this semester. The other officers are: vice-
president, Joyce Griffin, Stanwood
junior; secretary, Muriel Kadro-
vich, East Jordan junior; treasurer,
Patricia Blackmore, Vassar sophomore.
New members were installed
* By a margin of three votes, Louis
Foubare, Alpena junior, won the
vice-presidency of the' Student
Council when ballots were cast last
Thursday and Friday morning to
the second floor foyer of the Administration building. His close opponent, Jean Chisholm, Flint junior, received 91 votes while Louis
took the office with 94. Barbara
Ruth Force, Saginaw junior, and
£>irley Fisk, Battle Creek junior,
were also candidates.
Robert Wardrop, , Mt. Pleasiant
junior, won the election for Men's
Union president over his sticker opponent, Richard Arthaud, Lake
Orion junior.
Margaret Ketchum, Ionia, defeat-

Xmas Tea
Next Sunday
The annual Christmas tea spon
sored by thet Associated Women
Students will take place next Sunday, December 16, from four o'clock
to six o'clock p. m. to Keeler ballroom. Janet Schneider, Petoskey
sophomore, is general chairman of
the event. She will be assisted by
Ann Rogers, Gladwin freshman,
who is in charge of decorations;
Mary Lou Larson, Petoskey senior,
who will plan the menu; Virginia
Scrafford, Gladwin junior, program
chairman; Marilyn Lee, Petoskey
junior, and Sue Perkins, Highland
Park junior, who are in charge of
the hostesses and serves; and Barbara Brueck, Saginaw junior, chairman of the invitations committee.
The home economics department
will prepare the food.

presidency over Marijan Pendell,
Saginaw, Eleanore Bugby, Grayling,
.and Shirley DeGrass, Detroit, took
the offices of secretary and treasurer, respectively, from their opponents, Dorothy Sweeney, Mt. Pleasant, and Dorothy Sharrard, Peck.
J. Martin Snider, Elkton, will assume the responsibility of guiding
the junior class this year. He won
the election for presidency over
Jane White, Elberta. Helen Reilly,
Brown City, defeated Gwen Gwinn,
L u d i n g t o n. for vice-president.
Secretary Janet Duncan, Clare, was
victorious over her sticker candidate, Joan Muntz, Cass- City. Marian Abbey, Lake Orion, succeeded
in defeating her two sticker candidates, Alma Argo, Flint, and Mjar-
jorie Hoag, Traverse City, " giving
her the treasurership of the class.
Four candidates entered the race
for sophomore president. Helen
Eddy, Ionia, received the majority.
Her opponents were Clinton Stroebel, Saginaw; Betty Olmstead, Ludington; and "Steamer" Clark, Mt.
Pleasant, a sticker candidate. Barbara Johnson, Beulah, led Marge
Prior, Mt. Pleasant, by five votes
for vice-president and Arlene Ker-
ton, Fenton, defeated her .two
sticker candidates, Marcia • Park-
man, Saginaw, and Onitea Chisholm
Saginaw.
Competition for treasurer ran
close with Jane Van Derbeck, Saginaw, leading Kay Sanford, Free-
land, by one vote. Jean Taylor,
Montague, followed three votes behind. Arlene Richmond, Fenton,,
was also a candidate.
Several of the ballots cast were
illegal because of improper marking.

Cast of "Mashenka," who presented their
first performance last night, will appear again
tonight and tomorrow night in Warriner Hall
auditorium. •

The annual Panhellenic Sing will
be held in the college den December 17, at 7:30 p.m, Delta Qmicron|,
with Roberta Lanshaw, Alma junior, as chairman, is in charge of the
evening's festivities.
Each sorority sings two ..special
numbers, and then everyone joins
the group singing of "carols. Re*
