by MARGARET WOLFGANG

Three years after resigning from CMU, Elias Sam'o is
suing the Board of Trustees in an effort to get his resignation
rescinded and he be reinstated as a tenured faculty member.
' Sam'o, former professor of political science and Model
United Nations adviser, is suing to gain due process in
relation to his "forced resignation," said J. David Kerr,
Sam'o's attorney.
' "He felt under the circumstances he was never afforded a
due process hearing in regard to the charges against him,"
Kerr said.
The nature of those charges was never made public. Ken-
said. The suit addresses the process University personnel
used to handle the charges.
Counts listed in the suit include claims that CMU
employees "sought out and encouraged students of the
University to bring complaints against" Sam'o, the court
report states.
The suit was filed on April 26 in Isabella County 21st
Circuit Court.
Sam'o's resignation was effective May 11, 1987, but Kerr
said because issues were misrepresented by University
officials, Sam'o is trying to get the resignation recinded.
