Friday, Nov. 24, the Clare Sentinel
came out shining all over—in startling
colors. It- was & case of anniversary—
the 2lst. The Sentikel is a fine ren-
resentative of the weekly newspaper
and its loyalty to its town and county
has spread abroad.—Lansing Republican.
Ted Sutherland closed his first term
of school in the Brown district
last Friday, and tho the board there
offered him a raise in salary to remain,
he preferred to accept a position in
district number two, Greenwood,
where he will commence the winter
term next Monday. Ted is making
rapid strides, pedigoglcally.
A very pretty little birthday surprise party was given Miss Nina Now-
lin Tuesday evening. It was her
eleventh birthday and there were
present about twenty-five of her young'
friends. Music, games, refreshments
in way of ice cream, cake and fruits,—
an enjoyable time was had by all.
The K. of P, ball at the opera house
Wednesday evening was a success in
every way, about forty-five couples being present. To announce that Stick-
le's orchestra was in attendance is all
that is necessary to assure the people
that excellent music was rendered.
This was one ut the nicest dancing
parties of the season.
Henry Robinson of Gilrnore died

aged seventy-seven years. Heart failure was the cause of his death. The

ago.

: day next he will officiate for the last
her time as reading clerk in the house of
ten representatives. He announced to
friends here some time ago his disinclination to serve a second term and
informed congressman Mesick to that
effect, so it is probable that the office
will be given to a man from some
other state. Mr, Alward says he is
going to find out whether there is coal
on hislarm.
Olare and Farwell teams met on the
gridiron at Farwell Saturday and at
the end of the second half the score
stood 0 to 0. Farwell's team was
made up of nine home men and two
of Harrison's best men. Supt. Bennett
of Clare umpired the game and in his
overzealousness to be fair and not
favor his team, he gave the other side
the benefit of close decisions. It is
admitted by some of the Farwell boys
that the ball was once knocked from
the hands of F. E. Doherty after he
had made a 35-yard gain, and the ball
was given to the other side, thus Clare
was kept from scoring. ;,,
Joe Deherty, Will Peck, Charles
Bradshaw, Charles Groshmire .and
George French of Coleman were hunt-
inn north of Clare Tuesday. The K.
O. T. M. of that place elected captains
McCormick and McKinstry who chose
sides and went out for a day's hunt',

Programs are out for the teachers'
association to be held at Harrison
next week Friday and Saturday:
Every teacher In the county should
attend, and if there is a member of a
school board in the county who is so
narrow as to oppose teachers attending this meeting without forfeiting
a day's wages, he should never be
elected to office again, Better results
are obtained when teachers meet often
and "compare notes." Those attending from tlie south part of the county
will be obliged to go up Thursday
night, and a special train has been arranged .foe to return teachers from
the county seat Saturday afternoon
and this train will make connections
with both east and west bound trains
