Hattie, aged 19, wife of E.Ldhgworthy
of Sheridan, died Jast Saturday evening.
The remains were taken to' Coldwater
for interment. Last week. The Press
chronicled, the death of Mrs. A. L0ng-
worlhy of the same township. The
brothers came to Sheridan. only a short
time ago and both lost their Avivcs within
three days.
The congregational society of Bridgeport have extended a call to Rev. A. J.
Van Camp of this place. He has accepted the call and will remove thero as soon
as businias affairs can be arranged. The
Bridgeport correpondent of the Saginaw
Courier say: "He preached here Saturday and made a good impression." On
his return to Clare Mr. VanCamp found
another call awaiting him from tho Way-
land church.

with his hands: hi broke out of the cell
in which he had been locked and on Wednesday morning ho sot tho straw in the
jail on iire by rubbing sticks togather.
The fire was almost immediately discovered and extinguished. Thompson was
then taken to the asylum at Traverse.
City. It is not known what caused him
to become insane.
A prohibiu/ui 'county convention
was held ui. tb'u Town Hall in Clare
on Wc-dm-sduy afternoon. There
were, present six gentlemen from
Farwell, three from Clare, and one
from Winterfield. W. A. Carpenter
of FiirweM was made chairman and
W, H. Elclen Secretary. Then the
convention proceeded to nominate a
ticket. M>. Elden was named as a
candidate for treasurer, J. D. Rounds
of Farwell for clerk and James Saxton of Farwell for Sheriff. Up to
this time there had been no discussion but after Mr. Saxton's nomination Supervisor Chapin of Winter-

no nomination should he made for
sheriff, that ordinarily he eotild .support a prohibition candidate but un-;
