potato market of the world.

in Harrison are affected with lung
troubles. '. _ ?

The post office at Wise has been reestablished. The patrons formerly got
their mail at Coleman, chiefiy.
The Independent thinks that Coleman will have £,060 souls by another
year. Hothing like being hopeful.
Olio Star: A meeting of the board
of directors of the Clio Agricultural
and Driving Park association will
shortly be called to consider a proposition to form a race circuit embracing
Alma, Bay City, Caro, Clio, Evart,"
Mushing, Harrison, Ithaca, Midland,
Mt. Pleasant and Owosso. The proposition has come from H. W. Beck-
with, secretary of the Midland Driving
Park association, who has taken the
initiative in the movement.
Marion Dispatch: J. H. Hosier and
wife visited Harrison friends last
Thursday and started to return Sunday morning. When at a point about
two.miles and a half east of BeU .&
Prestel's mill the cutter was accictent-
ly over-turned, spilling out the occupants. In the excitement the horse
got away from John and did not stop
till it reached the mill, where it halted of its own accord, doubtless of sheer
exhaustion. Strange as it may seem
not a strap was broken and the cutter
escaped without further damage than
a few scratches. It was a most miraculous escape for all concerned.
. Evening !S*ews: An interesting law
suit was tried, at Gladwin. Isaac.
Hanna,' ex-county treasurer, when set- *
tling with the county at the time he
retired from offlce, gave a check for
$500 on the bank of M. C. Scrafford &
Co., while according to that institution's books he had only $300 deposited
there. Last April the bank credited
him with $300, but on Hanna's book
appears a charge for $500, while the
pass book entry, it is said, appears to
have been changed either from $500 to
$300, or from $300 to $500. It was
claimed that the corresponding entry
in Hanna's own book had been tampered with. The case ended in a judgment for the plaintiff, but will he ap-*
pealed.
Want the Gladwin Branch.

Keither Cadillac or Harrison would
object to railroad connections with
Gladwin. The Cadillac Democrat sayst
"But Cadillac is hustling in another
direction. Another railroad must be
secured. We must have (mark the
term) railroad connection with Manistee, Glaclwin and Alpena, andthe'Dem-
ocrat is in a position to say that every-
IMnglooks very favorable for its being
secured."
And the Harrison Cleaver remarks:
"Let our people unite with the Cadillac citizens and put forth an extra effort to secure an extension of the Michigan Central from jGrladwin."
RmPUBfclCiU*. COUNTY CONYENTXOST.
