county will be well cared for. *.
A city council in which David McPhall, Wm. A. Dean, Eugene H. DeYogt and Eollin H. Jenney sit as aldermen, will surely do much to advance the welfare of the city.
With the constabulary force composed of Eichard Borthey, jr., Ghas.
E. Smalley and Thomas Allison, the
order and quietness of the community
will be well looked after.
Hhe whole ticket from top to bottom is a good one and t -deserves a big

To The Claee Seis^inbl: I am
pleased to know that the republican
.party was wise enough to place in
nomination for school commissioner
the person of H. M. Eoys. As a
teacher of nearly two years' experience
in Clare county, 1 wish to say—giving
due regard to all candidates for the
office-7-that never has any previous
.commissioner showed more interest
and done more for the advancement of
•education in the county, than has the
©resent officer, H. M. Eoys. He
therefore is deserving of re-election.
€>n no county officer rests more responsibility. The school must be kept in
progress. The man who is best qualified, and who has most interest in the
■progress of educational affairs, is the
©ne for this 'office, regardless of his po-
2aMcal views. Herman M. Eoys is the
man for the office.
Yours Yery Truly,
. ' E. 0*. Welch.

■*'_?o_* Circuit Jncige in tlie Slst Judicial
JMstrict, Peter IF. BojMs."
H. W. Tribune: This is the way to
vote on the third day of April next;
and, judging from the extremely flattering reports from all parts of this
judicial district as to Mr. Dodds' candidacy, it is the way that a great majority of the electors thereof will vote
on the day mentioned. Mr. Dodds'
legal qualifications for the office are so
well known and admitted by all and he
is so well and favorably known as a
thoroughly trustworthy and conscientious man, that his fitness for the
office in every respect is beyond question: There is not a man in this entire district that is acquainted wfbh
Mr. Dodds, but that knows that when
legal matters arebrought before him
they will be submitted to a* master
mind and will be heard and decided by
a-man whose desire at all times is' to
do what is right, and who would make
any sacrifice rather than to knowingly do wrong. This is the "manner of
man" that the electors of this circuit
are to vote for at the coming election
and from: every locality and from
members of every party come"fche glad
ladings, "We are going to support
Peter E. Dodds for circuit judge."
The Glare Lone Star, L. O. L., had
its regular meeting last Monday night
and elected officers for the ensuing
year as follows:
Master—Wm, Cumungham.
Deputy Master—Eichard Worthy, jr.
■ Recording Sec'y—Lew Baker.
Financial Sec'y—Win. Hicks.
Treasurer—Richard Northey, sr.
Chaplain—M. D. Rogers.
Inside tiler—Judson Wilson.
JDirector of ceremonies—Rudolph Holtz.
Com. men—Wm. Chard,*!?. W. Weir, Chancey
Johnson, Tom Elliot, Aaron Northey.
Delegate to district lodge at Midland April 11th, Wm. Hicks; delegate
to state grand lodge at Grind Stone
City in May, Wm. Chard. Delegate
to the supreme grand lodge of the
United States to b& held at Indianapolis in June, H. Orth.
Shepherd correspondence of Isabella Enterprise: "faae people of this village and township are enthusiastic
oyer the nomination of P. E. Dodds
for judge of the 21st Judicial* district,
and the common expression is "he is
the man." Mr. Dodds' qualifications
for this important position are beyond
questioning, and as a gentleman and
citizen he is above reproach. A prominent democrat and business man of
this village remarked in our hearing
this week, that "the democrats could
not put up a maii who could defeat
Mr.Badds,5?
Erom December '91 up tOi January
'93, the Clare Masonic lodge '"'has been
working under a dispensation, but in
January a charter was granted and on
Monday Acting Grand Master Lew
Winsor of Eeed City was in Clare and
instituted the lodge. Among the visitors present were A. Coutant, Judge
Maxwell, P, E. Dodds and Scott Part
ridge of Mt. Pleasant, besides some
from lluskegon. The visitors were
greatly pleased with ' the manner in
which they were entertained, "Sew
officers were also elected, as follows:
W.M.—W. A. Goodman. • -
S. W.—R. M. MusseU.
" J. W.—Claud P. Louch.
* Treasurer—J. C. Rockafellow.
Secretary—C. F. Marshall.
S. D.—J. S. Ross. -
J. D.—Da-rad McPhaU.
Stewards—J.- S. BoyS, Ed H_ Waller.

COKSOIliNTIOIIS'AlSB HOKEST -JUDGE,
Sueh WH!^ Peter W. Bodds he. ^Judge Hart
Cordially Supports Him.'
Midland Eepubliean: The Eepubliean met Judge Hart the other day and
made some inquiries about Mr. Dodds,
the candidate for Judge of this circuit.
Judge Hart said that Mr. Dodds has
his cordial support,-that he is a good
lawyer, capable and industrious, is a
hard student, and will make a conscientious, honest judge, and there
can be no question of his integrity in
that important office. He will certainly carry to the-bench those habits of
industry and careful thought that
have characterized his work as an attorney.
All should see. the "Two Orphans"
