Much as we dislike, to do it, necessity compels us to strike from our
lists this week several names of those
who are long in arrears for subscriptions. We cannot afford to send
out papers for nothing. It costs
money to run a printing office,

Considerable commotion was caused in Clare Monday evening by a
brief but forcible fistic encounter between a couple of our citizens. One
of them had to wear beef steak on
his eye for a day or two afterwards
but he has the comforting reflection
that he nearly broke his own hand
in hitting the other fellow. The
trouble grew out of nothing and it
may take a law suit to find out who
was at fault in the matter.
"Where is my boy to-night," is a
question which every parent should
propound to himself each evening
about eight o'clock, and if the youth
does not make his appearance the
fond parent should form himself into a committee of one and launch
forth on a voyage of discovery.

A man who lives down the track
got s& full of budge Monday afternoon that the sidewalk was too nar-
raw for him to walk upon and then
started for homo with a basketful of
groceries. Staggering along he
scattered his packages by the way
and was at a loss to know when lie
sobered up a little whether he had
collided with a train or had been
waylaid and robbed. Wc understand that his latest explanation of
the affair is that two men attacked
him demanding money, and then
struck him a stunning blow over the
head. It may bo however that a
fall against the rail made the cut on
his head.
