It appears there is some trouble over
the postoffice at Dover. It seems that
the present p. m., A. B. Hains, has served
Uncle-Sam for the past two years faithfully; that he voted for Grover Cleveland
and that he does not see why he is net
entitled to the position another year at
least, j A petition has been ciiTdulated
lamong the persons that get their mail
at Dover and out of 180 over 80 want Mr.
Hains another year; 15 remain neutral
and the rest have either not been heard
from or are in. favor of Uncle Sam's appointee, W. L. Lyons. Mr. Lyons will
all in probability, take posession of the
office, which by the way nets the munificent sum of |65 per annum, next week,
regardless of the petition.

After a few remarks by Messrs.

of the committee, who are as follows:
C. W. Peri's, Will Goodman, Jr., B.

A discussion then arose oyer the
feasibility oi raising money for the
committee to work with, such as
buying stationary, etc. It was finally decided that' every person there,
so inclined, should give a dollar to
start the ball rolling. By so doing
about $25 dollars was raised.
Tnis committee, when it gets in
proper running order, is supposed to
keep posted on all industries desiring
a good place to locate, and to keep on
record the price and location of all
the lands in and around Clare for
sale, so that a stranger coming into
town and desiring: a location, he can
at a moment's notice be informed of
all the saleable land within several
miles of here.
A plan was also talked of D37 which
the town could be advertised to outsiders, and which was no more or
less than to print on the back of all
the envelopes used by the business
men about towns a synopsis of the
village of Clare in a condensed form.
I'his will come up before the next
meeting of the committee, which
will be held at E. D. Wheaton?s office this evening.
