It. is astonishing* howl many people
there are- who neglect punctuality.
Thousands have failed In life from this
cause alone. ::?,It is pot only a serious vice
In itself, but it isjtfco fruitful parent of
many other yidesj'so.. that|he who becomes the victim of^itgets involved in
toil? from which it is almost 'Impossible
to escape. .Many and hiany a time; has
the failure of one man to meet his obli-
gutions brought on the ruin of scores of
others. Thousands yamain poor all their
lives, who, If they were more faithful to
their word, would seeure a large run of
custom, and so make their fortunes. Be
punctual If yon would succeed.-
Look out ior yonir own tongue; it belongs to you, and it is the only one • for
which.you are* responsible. Your neighbors5 tongues may need care also, but
that is their business; this is yours. See
that it is properly attended to. Watch
your tongue; it needs watching. It "is a
fire,"—watch It. It is the helm which
guides the vessel!—let the helmsman
keep wide awake. It can bless or It can
curse; it can poison or heal; it can pierce
hearts or blight hopes; It can sow discord or separate chief friends* Watch
your tongue I Mo one but yon can take

they cannot do it. You have the power

It causes sad days, weary nights, tearful

Arthur Potter, and friends in Clare for
about a week, departed Wednesday evening for Aberdeen, Dak., where resides her
daughter, Mrs, H. Barnhart, with whom
she will visit during the coming summer
and fall. Her son William, froin Montana, will join her there for a protracted
visit.
Beaderf when you haye perused this
paper, kindly hand it to that neighbor of
yours who every week asks to borrow it
"for a few moments;'' tell him to look
over the long columns of local and county news; show him the stories and miscellaneous reading it contains from the
pens of the best authors; suggest to him
that all the Important news throughout
the state. United States and. foreign
countries can be found therein, as well as
household hints and farm topics; and
lastly don't forget to tell him it is a wonder how so good a paper caa be furnished
at such a -price, an$ that you don't see
how any family !n</la^e or Northern Isabella county can afford to be without it.
Try it. It is all the rage now. It eon-
tains more home news than any of the
others; it is the acknowledged leading
paper of the county and to attest this fact
is but to say that it has nearly double
the circulation of any other sheet published in these parts. We are determined
to double these figures and to accomplish
this object we will send the Democrat
to any address from now until January
1st, 1890, for 75 cents. Don't miss the opportunity, but subscribe early. NOW is
the time. If you are already a subscriber, pay for an additional copy and have
It forwarded to some distant friend.
