Stanley Koontz and Harry Milton, two
chronic bums, who have scarcely been
known to do a day's work since their advent to Clare a couple of years ago, were
arrested last "Friday evening by. night-
watchman Horace Stevens, who eaught
them in the act of stealing a keg of .beer
from John Husted's ice-house. They
were put in the village bastile and tbe
next evening taken to Harrison by Marshal Austin, where tbeyiiow board, awaiting trial. Both of them are young, able-
bodied men, scarce 3D years of age,
notorious for their hanging around
saloons, never missing an opportunity to
get a drink and keeping partially "soak

The scene of the fire was a lumber pile
in Homing's mill yard. The fire was-
first discovered by R. Museott, who Wac-
going home to his dinner along the street
and gave? the alarm. The lumber pile
was fairly well seasoned and. notwith- •
standing the dampness occasioned hy the
late rains, the flames spread with great;
rapidity. The ."hose company liespondecH

The fire was about two blocks from the .
