We were shown through Bicknell's
new quarters last evening where we
found the two stores, both floors, full
of goods nicely arranged In separate
departments and the whole establish*
ment looking neat and inviting.

It is related of a certain Clare
"moonshiner" that he sold some pine
logs last fall to a Saginaw lumberman, the same being cut on land

long after he sawed the ends off the
logs so as to erase the marks and
sold the same logs over again. The

having suffered a stroke of appoplexy
about 24 hours before. The funeral
wTas held on Monday afternoon. Deceased was an industrious laborer, the
fruit of whose toil during the past
winter has been barely sufficient
to buy food for his family, consisting
of a wife and three children. Mrs.
Hayes intends to return to her old
home In Indiana.

The announcement of a song service drew another full house at the
Congregational church last Sunday
evening, which fact attests that music hath ch'arms to soothe other than
savage breasts. Tlie/ choir consisting of C. W. Chase^ director, Miss
Etta Muscott, Mrs. Ina Horning,
Mrs. H. Trevidick, Miss Ella. Saw-
tell, Cyrus Bender, Durward Ross,
C. S, Chase deserves much praise.
Besides the anthems sung by the
choir last Sunday evening, solos by
Lottie Parish, Miss Ella Sawtell and
Mr. C, W. Chase and a. duet by Mrs.
Horning and Mr. Bender were finely rendered. The pastor preached
"an excellent sermon from the text,
"Come over into Macedonia and
help us." There will be another
song service on the evening of April
5th.
