aged 70 years, drowned himself in a
spring one day last week because he
was afraid he might become addicted
to the use of whisky, which he had

Detective Turner who has been
working up the treasury robbery
case went home Saturday, faking all
his "evidence" with him. Tie says
that he couldn't get half pay from
the syndicate and that he proposed
to deliver his accumulated theories
and testimony onJy when his late
employers paid him in full,
Jackson Alexander of Coldwater
planted last spring, one bushel of
Barley on one fourth of an acre of
ground, which yielded him 21 bushels. We think this will be hard to
beat. He thinks it is more profitable
than raising either wheat or oats, as
ifc will bring from GO to 80 cents per

A. J. Doherty and E. D. Wheaton
were elected sehool trustees at the
annual meeting in this district; Monday-evening. The board estimated
the total expense of running the
schools for the ensuing year to be
$2500 and they asked for a tax of
$1,900 which was voted, $1050 was
raised last year.
Ofthe amount stolen from me at
the time ofthe robbery in May 1884,
there remained charged against me
When I settled with the Board of
Supervisors in January last about
$1815, which I was unable to turn
over to my successor in the office of
county treasurer. I desire to pay
that amount to the county before the
meefcing of the Supervisors in October, and I therefore urge upon
those indebted to me to call and settle their accounts either by cash or
note, within 30 days from date.

Bev. J. Levington who preached
here, Saturday, and Sunday, organized a Sabbath school. The success
