a very able man and without doubt
his lecture will be well worth going
to hear. His subject will be announced next week.
On Tuesday evening the 23 instant,
the Congregational choir will give a
concert in the church. Much pains
has been taken in the preparation of
this entertainment and'we hope tliat
the public will show their appreelk
tion by attending in large numbers.
An admission fee of 15 cents each will
be charged both old and young. The
excellence of former concerts given
by the choir and the low price of admission ought to insure a large audience,

A. J. Doherty received yesterday
from J. W. Calkins a letter in which
the latter says he will be unable to
visit- Clare this year and it may be
three years before his return. Bar-

Husted, Goodman and the President.
The committee to settle with the
Treasurer reported as follows;
To the Common Council of the village of Clare; We the undersigned
a committee appointed to settle with
the village Treasurer of this village
do herewith submit our report: We
have examined and compared the
books and vouchers of the said Treas-
urer with the books and stubs of the
Clerk: and find them correct. We
find there is in the hands of our late
Clerk A* J. Doherty the sum of $3
belonging to the cemetery fund, and
the sum of 24-100 dollars balance ft
on one car of plank from Harrison.
