J)r, Carpenter wants a bigger salary as

down th© salaries of some officers who
don't do much of anything they could afford to pay respectable salaries to those
whose services are valuable. It is of importance that th© duties of Health officer
be performed faithfully.

We are informed by ID. J. Fox that when
he went over to Mt. Pleasant Wednesday to
set his men to work on T. P. Horning's
Creamery the talk was* or had been jfret-
ty strong against allowing Glare carpenters to go to work. They have a Labor
Union in mfc. Pleasant and they thought
to scare our carpenters so they would be
afraid to go to work. However when
they learned that Fox was going-to set
his men to work they determined to boycott him. Bave says he guesses that
didn't work either for when he went over
he found plenty of men that wanted to go
to work for him.
H. H. Graves of Mt. Pleasant, the attorney for the T. & A. B. B. was in Glare
on Sunday, having come in on a log train
in the night from Saginaw. Leaving
there at 8:20 p. m., he arrived in Glare afc
4:15 Sunday morning, and had to drive
home. Pretty soon it won't be so tedious
a trip from Saginow to Mt. Pleasant via
Glare. Mr, Graves had been down to
Bay Oity concluding negotiation with
Mr. McEwan for the right of way through
this village and for depot grounds. Ample accommodations on the west sid© of
the village plat wer© deeded to the company and the depot will be located probably at the ©nd of Sixth street.
