digging potatoes, and preparing the
ground for wheat,

returned from Coral, Mich., where
they were called by tlie announcement ofthe sicking of his father,
Lester v., formerly of this place.—
There is not much hopes of his recovery.
Quite a number went from here on
the excursion to Ludington and Manistee.
Messrs. Crawford and Nichols have
neatly completed their road job along'
the west side of Sec. No.2.
Geo. Bender is on the sick list hut-
is nofc confined to bed,
L. Cronk does not say much about
his wheat crop, for he is afraid folks
will think he is bragging.
Notices are posted for the letting of

grounds of District No. 4.
There will be less wheat sown in

The sad bereavement haves a shadow around the home of the afflicted
ones. Nofc being much of a poet we
would deem ifc a favor if some qualified person would write an epitaph
suitable for the occasion.

Wm. Purdy has returned from
Reading. He reports crops good in
thafc vicinity.
Several parties from Ohio, friends
of J. Cotter, have purchased 300 acres
of new land in this town, from a Bay
City firm and have commeiiced improving it.
On Saturday last, while J. Hudson
was plowing for Mr. Jerrod, an old
hear and two cubs crossed the same
field. Joseph procured a single barreled shotgun, loaded tothe muzzle
