Wednesday, October 1st, instead of September 24th, as heretofore advertised. .

Mrs. Wm. Giberson is home after a

will be seryed from five until seven
o'cJock. All are invited to attend.
All honor to George W. Sfpne, the ,
democratic candidate upon the state
ticket for auditor general. Clare county,
in which he resides, will roll up a handsome majority for him in *KToyember.
Rey. Leroy Warren, of Olivet, state
superintendent of Congregational
churches, will occupy^the pulpit 'of the
Congregational church in. this -yillage
next Sunday morning, andwill preach at

At a meeting of ihe school board of
this district last Saturday evening C. W.
Perry was chosen director 16r the ensuing year, W.H. Goodman as-'moderator

The wooden ware factory commenced
operations Tuesday^ afternoon. ' But five
saws are in'operation:this week. HoW-
eyer, 'tis expected, that the entire machinery will be in operation by next Wednesday.
The fence around the Calkins' property on the corner of. oth and McEwan
streets is being removed and everything
put in readiness to commence operations
upon the hasement of the hotel immediately. ' * •

trial of Andrew E. Mack, charged as being an accomplice of A. A. Shaver in the
embezzlement of §1000 of county funds,
will come off during the coming session.
At the meeting held at the high school;
building on last Wednesday eyening for
the purpose of voting "To borrow . ten
thousand dollars to build school house
and issue bonds there Eor?'„ was lost. The
vote being 41 for, and 43 against. It requires two-thirds yotes to carry. The
result is a burning shame and a disgrace
to our enterprising village, is all that wo
have to say for the present.-
