to your entire satisfaction. If your jat least ten <

attempt to cut retl tape in tlieir dealings with you, why then love them,
otherwise not. A'ou you treat them
just as they treat you, "An eye for an

by the traveler unless his attention
was culled to them. Nothing marks
their presence except tlie circle of

-even feet across and as you look at
them you would naturally look
around to see what became of tbe
dirt taken from them when they wert
dug. No bottom'has been found to
any of them, although they have been
sounded to great depths, The water
of the Humboldt AV.Hs is slightly
brackish, rises to the ^surface, skipping off through the loose sandy soil
of the valley, where the waters from
them all unite and form n branch of
the Humboldt. The old Emigrant
road touches here, this being one of
their principal points. From here
the old road follows down the Humboldt and to the left of the sink,
thence to Carson Sink, to Carson \'al-
ley. The railroad follows down the
same route, but passes the sink on
the north. The sink or lake into
wliich the river looses itself is alyout
ten or fifteen miles broad by about
twenty in length.
