satisfaction.

There was a social at Wm Stevens' for

The recent stormy weather has caused
a decrease in the attendance afc our school
which has been conducted with much
credit to the teacher, Miss Kidd.
The Sunday school is progressing
nicely under the care of our new superintendent and his able assistant.

The Houm on the County Farm In This City
Burned on Wednesday,
Wednesday at noon fire was discovered in the residence on th.* "old" county
farm northeast of the cicy, and the house
w.-s entirely destroyed. It was occupied
by D, Faicrell and family, who lost nearly
everything they possessed, including their
winter's provisions, which were stored
in tho cellar. Mr. Parrel! was away from
home, and but for the timely arrival of
neighbors nothing would have been
siived. 'As""it was, only a few Mtohen
uteneils and one bed wore gotten out.
Thi,* blow -is a - hard one to Mr. Parrel]
and family. Their loss will reach "$300.
The county had an insurance upon the
building for S700, less about $15, which
was paid out last summer for repairs
after it had been struck by lightning.
Those acquainted with the building
claim uhs-Srsortught from tbe chimney,
which was pot properly repaired after
tho Jightniug's work.

da with his parents at the age of five
years, lived there the early years to manhood, when .he. removed to Whiten-rll,
Mich., and from there he moved to Clare
where he/resided continually until his
death, being 57 years of age. He leaves
a wife, a kind and noble lady, and four
children to mourn, his loss. He was a
kind husband and indulgent father,
loved and honored by all that knew him.
He was an honored member of the L. O,
L. and a member of the M. E. church,
where he held a prominnet place afc fche
time of his death. He was a man of
great forethought and wisdom and true
nobleness of mind and character, upright and honest in all his work with
God and man, and true to the last, and
by Ms untiring efforts' helped to place
the L. O. L. on a firmer foundation.
When seekihg relief from the cares of
day it was in the midst of his family that
he found that peace, that happiness am
rest that only a noble man alone can find.
He was true to himself, true to his family,
and true to the'order that ho belonged
and as friends and neighbors wo deeply
feel our lops, and wo feel that a great man
has been taken from our midst. "How
are tho mighty fallen', but that loved one
he has left behind whom was his most
earnest care and thought as they walked
life's road together hand in hand, cheering oris another with words of iovs and
deeds of kindness, But look with tho
eyes of faith to those bright realms on high
and. see him on that radiant shore with
a crown, upon his ferow, brighter than all
the jewelled crowns of earth, and with
palms of victory over death and all its
sting. Children, a kind and loving father
has gone from your midst. No more will
you heai the Well known step or kindly
voice that was once music to your ears.
But he has gone before you to show you
tho Way, and fear not the road he has
walked for he is waiting and watching for
his loved ones over there. Walk in the
waj wherein he walked and try to meet
him in that land of brightest day, where
parting is not known and sorrow and
death cannot enter. 'Husband, and father thou art gone; thy work is done, thy
suffering past. Sleep on thou ' gentle
sleeper and take jour rest while Holy
angels guard thy lowly bed.
