May 1st Henry Hinkle opened a saloon
in Farwell but did not take out a license.
He deposited S300 with the county treasurer to apply on tho price of the card,
but died soon after. The money deposited was raised by a note endorsed by Miss
0. Buch. Before his death Hinkle gave
Miss Buch an order on the county treasurer for the amount deposited. Tho village has served notico on tho treasurer
not'to pay the order, claiming that the
money belongs,in its treasury. The outcome will probably bo a law suit,

bug exterminator which he predicts will
finish the orop of those pests so suddenly
that enterprising bugologists who have
not captured a specimen of thiB festive
bird should do so at,once. To give a
lucid disoription of it is difficult, bnt a
vary good substitute could be made' by
nailing a strip about two feet long on
the sides of a stone" boat, near the front
end. Upon theso fasten an ordinary
pair of oar looks, place in eaoh lock an

Quit-in died at Delta, Eaton county, at

The stockholders of the Shepherd
creamery held a meeting Tuesday afternoon, whon it was decided to dispose of
the property. Negotiations are pending

named Hess, whose factory at Oalkins-

Officers Parrish and Mason were soon in
cbasa and.Tuesday morning tho rig was
found near Curtis Palmer's storo in Sheridan, where it had been taken up by a
farmer who found it in the road without
a driver. Suspicions of taking the animal pointed to one Geo. Saunders, who
was in Clare Monday and imbibed rather
freely. Olficor Parrish captured him in
Gladwin, brought him to this city and
Wednesday he was'taken to Harrison.
The horse and buggy was returned Tuesday none the worse for the previous
nights' experience.
DrED:—Friday last,_at his home in Hatton. township, HiraufST. Jenkins, aged 60
years. Mr. Jenkins early last winter sustained an injury of the hip from which his
recovory was very slow, and dropsy, the
direct cause of his death was no doubt
encouraged by the injury. The deceased was an honored veteran, serving in
Co. A. 2d Mich., cavalry .from November,
'61 through the war. As a citizen ho was
held in in high regard by a large-circle of
acquaintances. Tho funeral occurred on
Sunday at the Brown school houso,
Arthur/land the remains interred in the
township cemetery. An estimable wifo
survives him who will have the sympathy
of her every acquaintence.
