Dundee Reporter: Monday Dr. Wil-
lett was called to perform a very delicate surgical operation upon the two-
year old child of Chas Schrader, near
Azalia,to remove a needle from the
bowels which had been driven into the

The latest attempt of the inmates of
the county jail is thus described by the
Argus:
Another attempt at jail breaking was
made at six o'clock last night. The
prisoners had dissovered that Sheriff
Dwyer was in Mt. Pleasant and that
turnkey P. McCabe was alone. There
were four men in the cage awaiting
trial in the circuit court,—Atchinson
charged with horse stealing; Pred
Prank, charged with shooting young
Pierce; Gus Stevens, charged with
stealing coats in Chelsea: and John
Bryant, charged with attempted criminal assault. As the turnkey opened
the cage door to pass in their supper,
Atchinson stepped forward to hand out
the tray, as usual to Burgrauff, an old
man who had gone in with the meals.
He let go the large tray and stepped
back, while Prank stepped forward saying, "Pat, give us a towl, won't you,"
and' raised his hand to throw something.
The turnkey ducked his head, thus
saving his eyes. A white powder went
all over his face and clothes, but hone
in his eyes. The four men all made a
break for the door, but the turnkey
held on like grim death. The tray
prevented the door from going shut at
once. The struggle was brief but
fierce. Burgrauff got the tray out, and
McCabe finally managed to shut the
door. He at once locked the four men
in their cells. This is the third attempt at jail breaking since Atchinson
has been an inmate of the jail. It was
not known last night what the white
powder consisted of, but it is supposed
to be bone dust.
