Guess the enlargement of Clinton's

December Crop Report.
For this report returns have been received from 737 correspondents, representing 581 townships. Five hundred
and two of these reports are from 364
townships in the southern four tiers of
counties, and 126 reports are from 115
townships in the central counties.
"Wheat goes into the winter in good
condition in all parts of the state. In
the southern counties, compared with
average years, the condition is 103 per
cent; in the central, 09 per ceut; and
ditiou in the southern counties is 26
per ceut better, and in the central lo
per cent better, than one year ago.
Mauy correspondents note that the
plant has made larger growth than for
several years past, and that its color
and apparent healthfulness are better
than usual. But while the condition of
wheat is fealt to be very satisfactory,
have not
terfered with the saving of clover seed,
and much, of this crop was wasted in
consequence, aad corn has not cured as
well as in dry seasons. Yet the continuance of mild, open weather to the
first of the present month, has enabled
farmers to close up their work in a
very satisfactory manner. The area
fall plowed is reported much greater
than usual, and would have been even
larger had not the rains made many
fields too wet to plow.
_, There was a law suit at Tecumseh
in. the northern 102 per cent. The con- iast week, over a few pounds of turkey.
Two litigants, two lawyers, a number
of witnesses and a crowd of spectators
kept their eyes on the turkey, 'till a
Judgement of $4.40 was rendered.
The lawyers gobbled more than the
gobbler was worth.:—Adrian Press.
Moral: Keep out of law suits.
Elder Davis, of Ann Arbor, once a
Methodist minister, then an editor,and
next superintendent of the poor, died

very numerous. They are reported i
from nearly every county in the south- j

It is evident, however, that no mater- j
