Sunday Mrs. Gregory, near Grass

life took a big dose of paris green.
Either she was too much for the dose

for such food it rejected and the poison
came upward. Mrs. G. still lives.
One man Vanderbeck, of Eaton

needless to say a few minutes only did
it remain.
The editor of the Grass Lake News
says that enough dandelions have gone
to seed there to seed down half a township, probably true and we have enough
here to seed down the other half which
will make a fine plantation for greens,

The Chelsea Herald says the boss

much sought after.
The life of a newspaper reporter is

out the middle of May, hand-bills
were seen on our streets announcing
that 300 men were wanted to go to St.
Pssul, Minn., and work on a railroad
at $1.50 per day, transportation paid.
About 150 applied at 423 South Adams
street, and were obliged to deposit $1
each with Otho Taylor as guarantee of
good faith. They were to ship June
1st, but Monday Taylor departed for
parts unknown. The scheme has been
worked in other Michigan cities.—Ypsilanti Commercial.
Last week the grave of a young lady
who was drowned at Pontiac and
brought here for burial about thirty
years ago, was opened for the removal
of the remains, when nothing but the
coffin was found. Not a bone or shred,
to indicate that a body had ever lain
there was left, and it was indisputable
that the corpse had been taken by grave
robbers at the time of burial. Doubtless it went to the dissecting room of
the University about the time ot the excitement caused by the robbery of the
Superior cemetery. How many people
are adorning and keeping green, empty
graves, it is impossible to say.—Ypsilanti Sentinel.

about it as soon as hexan hear from a
friend who lives in Jackson who will
protect him. People who have known
Clark for years say that this is the first
time that he has ever shown any signs
of insanity.
The Tribune published the following
dispatch from Coldwater:
This morning Ed. Clavine, an insane
person, almost a stranger here, created
quite a sensation on the streets by his
violent actions. He was taken in
charge by the sheriff and,af ter a severe
straggle, landed in jail. He says that
he killed a man in Jackson and was
present when the Crouch family were
murdered near there several years ago.
He keeps_ washing his hands to.take off
the blood stains. There is a possibility
that he may know something about the
terrible tragedy.
Shopping by System.
"But" says some women, "we must
'shop;' we must get the things %ve
want." Certainly. Bless your heart,
shop all you want, but why not apply
some kind of a system to the idea?
writes Edward W, Bok in the May
Ladies' Home Journal. Don't make a
day of it. Give an occasional morning
to the pleasure (?), and break it up in
pieces. "Easy talking," says some
one, "but we cannot always leave our
homes wheu we want to, as you men
can." My dear woman, God gives you
just exactly the same amount«f time as
he does to men, and he hasn't given
you a particle more to do within that
period of time. The trouble is that
women are not systematic enough. I
played tho part of eavesdropper in some
of the stores, and was surprised to find
how few women really knew just what
tbey wanted. They knew in a general
way, but not in a definite sense. Now,
when a man goes shopping he knows
precisely what he wants, asks for it,
gets it, pays for it and go£s away.
Women's purchases are undoubtedly
different, and such a simple system
cannot, perhaps, be followed by them.
But that women could simplify their
shopping expeditions, number's of then-
own sex have confessed to me within
the last few days.
