Blum, wjiere married at the Catholic
church at Freedom on the 21st of Nov.
They took the train here on the same
morning for Fremont Ind. to spend a
week "with his pai'ents. They returned
Monday,"
Tuesday night the boys gathered
from all sides accompanied by horns,
bells and guns and made all the noise
they could in honor of I. W. Kirkwood.

The Chautauqua Circle met at Mrs.
Gaunlett's Saturday P. M. Interesting
papers were read by Miss Clara Allen,
Mrs. G. Allen, Mrs. F. Allen, Miss
Ella Murry, and Mrs. G. R. Williams.
Miss M. A. Palmer then proceeded to
quiz the cilcle on Roman History.
The meeting then adjourned until tbe
16th of December when they will meet
at Mrs. G. R. Williams residence on
County street.
A terrible fire visited our village
Monday night, about ten o'clock, the
flames broke forth from Dorson's saloon and spread so rapidly that several
thousand dollars worth of property
were destroyed before any signs of
checking were visible. O. M. Kelly's
hardware stock which was in the
same block was a total loss, all that
how remains" of the building is the
walls, Mr. Kelley had SI ,000 insurance
on the building and §3,0.00 on the stock.
Harley Guy and family who lived over
the saloon lost all their household
goods with no insurance. James
Gauntlett's large stock of goods was
badly damaged through efforts of the
firemen in saviug property,uo insurance
R. Vercelu's saloon was also destroyed
as were their household goods. The
office of Dr. Chapin was among the
unfortunates, his library being all that
was saved. The Ann Arbor fire company reached here about midnight and
worked .hard until morning before tbe
surrounding property was thought to
be safe and the flames under control.
Through great difficulty the Whitmarsh hlook was saved. *
