NEIGHBORHOOD GLEANINGS.
A man wandering tnroughacemetery
came across the following inscribed
upon a stone: "A lawyer and an honest
man." He stood gazing at the stone,
when accosted by another man who
asked him if he had discovered the
grave of a friend. "No, hut I was
wondering why they buried both those
fellows in the same grave."—Belleville
Enterprise.
We have heard of a good many uses
for a hen coop, but Cuyler Coy capped
the climax by appearing on our street
Sunday morning with one hitched behind a horse and using ifc for a snow
plow. It was a novel idea but did the
work to perfection as many of our citizens can testify who were thus enabled
to get about town without wading in
the deep snow.—Belleville Enterprise.
The December term of the circuit
court commenced Monday morning,
three hours ahead of the Natio nal
Congress; and it was more important
ta several people than was the congressional session. There are 89 cases
on the docket of which 10 are criminal,
including the Hand murder case, the
Sherwood sheep stealing from Super
lor, John W. Robinson, and Geo. H.
Greenfield assault with intent ;o kill'
Lyman Brown assault, Cuyler .T. Barton arson, and two liquor oases. There
are six cases for divorce, Bordeaux,
Collyer, Hennells, Hall, Wilson and
Burr, The Ann Arcor Begister complication is also on the docket for this
term, and a suit in chancery by Catharine M. Fillmore vs. the Grand Camp
K. O. T. M. The Brooklyn-Milan
electric sugar swindle reappears in two
or three cases, and a suit against the
city of Ann Arbor by Mary Kinney.
The Hand case was not quite ready
aud the day is set for it.—Ypsilanti.
