The funeral Tuesday was another
clear demonstration of the interest taken by our people in one another, and in
patriotic principles.

through the winter? If so, we
are sure it quieted your cough,
healed the rawness in your
throat, increased your weight,
gave you more color, and made
you feel better in every way.
But perhaps your cough has
come back again, or you are getting a little thin and pale.
Then, why not continue the
same helpful remedy right
through the summer? It will do
you as much good as when the
weather is cold.
Its persistent use will certainly
give you a better appetite and a
stronger digestion.
It will cure your
weak throat and heal
your, inflamed lungs.
It will cure every case
of consumption, when
a cure is possible.

A piece of cable recently found in a
historic dwelling at the Falls oi
Schuylkill recalls the first suspension
bridge of a single arch ever attempted
in this country. The idea originated
with Thomas Paine, "the great commoner of mankind," While he was
spending the summer of 1786 at the
hotel near the Palls of the Schuylkill.
The idea was suggested to him by the
mechanism of a spider's web, and he
began to work up the plans for an iron
bridge to span the river at that point.
To lay his model before the French
academy of sciences, Paine went tc
France in 1787, but that country was
already on the road to revolution and
had no time for the study of bridges.
In England Paine forgot his scientific
mission and became absorbed in political affairs, which ended with his imprisonment and gave to the world "The
Rights of Man," but lost to it for many
years advanced scientific bridge-building.—Philadelphia Record.
Moody and the Rowdy
A few years ago, when ^Evangelist
Moody was preaching In the slums Of a
large city, he was delayed in leaving
the hall till late in the evening. The
exit was in a back street, and »S he
left the building he found a number-of
roughs waiting to annoy him. *As he
walked along he heard them say,
"Here he comes! " and they prepared
to jostle him from the sidewalk. Going straight up to the ring-leader Mr.
Moody held out his overcoat, andj with
self-possession that commanded*Complete respect, said: "My friend,'.]won't
you just help me ou with my overcoat?

at your age, and some day .when you
are old as I am, I'll be glad to do you
the same favor." No bully was ever
more completely taken back with, surprise. He held the overcoat &r the

cured by the use oi two boxes. I have
not had any trouble with my stomach
