A Powerful Search light.
The largest search light in the world
was exhibited at the Columbian exposition, in Chicago. The reflecting lens,
60 inches in diameter, weighs 800
pounds, and is mounted in a brass ring
which weighs 750 pounds. The reflected light from the great electric
lamp is equal to that of 375,000,000
candles. A newspaper could be read
by its light a hundred miles away.

The Football Game.
The football team played their second
game with the Ann Arbor Locals Tuesday after school. The visitors won in
a close game by the score of 11 to 5,
they scoring two touchdowns and one
goal and Saline one touchdown and no
goal. Our team showed wonderful
improvement over two weeks ago and
greatly surprised the Ann Arbor team
by their fast playing. During the
first half each side made one touchdown
in four minutes, our boys having a
little the best of it carrying the ball
the whole length of the field Leith
and Schroen were great gainers with
the ball and the former once tackled
the runner for a loss of nine yards.
Kiebler once broke through their lines
and tackled the runner before he was
well started. Gillen saved several
touchdowns by his.sure tackling. Sears
was very serviceable at center against
Sagerwho weighed 187 lbs, For the
visitors Goodrich and Heinzman were
the best end gainere and Hill tbe
greatest through the line. The Ann-
Arbor team was a little the heavier.
The line-up of the teams was as follows. t
Fitzgerald Right-end Seabold
Kiebler Right-tackle Deli
Josenhans Right-guard Judson
Sears Center- Sager
Schmidt Left-guard Tate
Watson Left-tackle Lehman
Nissly Leffcend Goodrich
Roman Gillen Quarter-back McMahon
Leith Right-half Nellis
Schroen Left-half Heinzman
Gillen Full-back Hill

Moliere's Last Day.
It is told of Moliere, that on the
morning of the day on which he died,
hie wife and friends, seeing how weak
he was, tried to prevent him going
down to play that night, but in vain.
"A man," said he, "suffers long ere he
dies; I feel that with me the end is
at hand; but there are fifty poor work-
lngmen who have only their day's
wages to live on, and who is to give
them bread tonight if I play not " So
he went down, and played his great
composition, the "Malade Imaginaire"
—dying all the while, then went home
to bed, and died.

his interlocutor's hand and exclaimed:
"Why, Major Britches, how are you?"
