The Book of Hezekiah.
At an Illinois town the other day
the Rev. E. A. Boss, the revival preacher, asked all those in his congregation
to rise who had read a passage in the
book of Hezekiah. About a dozen
arose, Borne of them long-time church
members. The evangelist said: "Why,
God bless you, there's no such hook in
the bible!" There was a roseate flush
o'erspread some cheeks that had been
sallow for years.
Quite a Distance.
"Is there a long-distance telephone
around here?" asked the stranger.
"That's the only kind there is, mister,"
answered the native; "an' the distance
is just about four an 'a half mile if you
don't miss your way. Jest keep a-goin'
straight over the hill to the third turn
to the right."—Chicago Post.
Naturally Scared.
Judge: "They say a man is always
scared when he proposes."
"Tes; especially if he proposes something like champagne and oysters."
Hard to Solve.
"Is his book a problem novel?"
"Yes; and a hard one. It Is the worst
form of Scotch dialect."—Puck.
Is It Best To Tell Your
Troubles?
Joseph McGibney, a night watch of
Kalamazoo, has had trouble for eight
years. Now that he is practically freed
therefrom , he proposes to reveal the
facts to his neighbors. Meeting- a
prominent druggist last week, whose
name we withold for the present, he
said,"! have had dyspepsia and nerve
troubles for'eight years, and have tried
man/preparations advertised for their
cure, witb no satisfaction. Recently I
procured a package ol Drake's Dyspepsia Cure and Nerve B jstorer, have had
it only two weeks and am thankful that
my affliction is a thing of the past.
Good, sound sleep is something I have
not had for some time previous to my
using treatment. I cau safely recommend it lo any person afflicted with
stomach or nerve troubles." There is
only one place in Saline where you can
get this preparation; C. F. Unterkircher, the leading druggist. This
is the only preparation for stomach
and nerve troubles that is sold strictly
upon its merits. A package will convince the most skeptical. A book on
stomach and nerve troubles, their symptoms and their cures, given free /or
the asking at the above store.
DYSPEPSIA is the cause of untold suffering. By taking Hood's
Sarsapariila the digestive organs are
toned and dyspepsia IS CURED.

Now for the Blue Ribbon Meeting.
Michigan has already been afforrtiug
the light harness steppers opportuni-
ies for bread winning this season, but
tthese earlier contests will be greatly
eclipsed when the famous Grand Trotting Circuit opens at Detroit July 18
and continues until July 23. Never before in the history of the sulky has
there been such an array oi speed as
is now bottled up awaiting the tap of
the bell at tho magnificent course so
beautifully located near the banks of
the River St. Clair.
The first three days of Blue Ribbon
week will be especially attractive as
the liberal reward of $30,000 awaits
the successful in the nine events set
down for that part of the program. Interest naturally centers in the exciting struggle for the Merchants and
Manufacturers' Stake for which a field
for sixteen fleet young trotters will
compete. This is set down for Tuesday
in accordance with the time honored
custom established since 1880 when the
first race for this rich prize took place.
Most ofthe horses engaged for the
tenth of these noted contests have
shown great form this season, an example being furnished by Lurline McGregor who took a record of 2:lTf last
week. The pacers in the Chamber of
.Commerce Slake are even faster so
that heats below 2:10 are sure to result
from this race.
One of the big sensations of the waek
is on Monday when seven of the fastest
sidewheelers in the world meet in the
2:04 pace. There is Chehalis, the California wonder that recently won a
great victory at Denver, stepping a
mile in 2:04i an unheard of featfor June.
His neighbor, Anaconda, ^that forced
him out there, will renew the conflict
at Detroit, and besides the cracks from
the Pacific Slope there are Frank Agan
and Frank Bogash the redoubtable
Indiana Whirlwinds; Bumps who carried everything before him last year
aud is faster than ever now; Rubinstein the magnificent Ohio champion
one of the handsomest horses on the
turf, and Giles Noyes from Chicago a
hard nut lo crack even in this select
company. This great race has beeu
arranged for tho opening day so that
those who take advantage of ihe one
fare rate for the round trip on all railroads and steamboat lines running to
Detroit may get full value for their
money. Alter seeing this brilliant
commencement,persons from a distance
holding excursion tickets may remain
until Wednesday and witness the exciting contests for the Merchants and
Manufacturer's, Chamber of Commerce
and other rich stakes. Every lover of
clean sport in Michigan should take a
week's vacation and celebrate the recent triumph of American manhood on
land aud sea, by witqessing the process
of our peerless horses in the greatest
of our National recreations.
The Chief Burgess or Milesburg,
Ph., says DeWitt's Little Early Risers
are the best pill he ever used in hit
family during forty years of housekeeping. They euro constipation, sick
headache and stomach aud liver iroub"
les. Small in »iza but great iu results.
