Will Anything Be Done?
It is to be hoped that the enthusiasm
manifested at the business men's meeting Tuesday evening over the prospects
of an electric road to Saline will speedily result in something substantial, in
arrangements for the taking up of
$10,000 or 515,000 worth of bonds, for
instance. Ypsilanti must not think he-
cause terms have been talked over that
the road is a sure thing. Ann Arbor
realizes fully the benefits of being on
such a line and is just waiting a chance
'to slip in ani switch it over in her own
direction. As it is now Ypsilanti does
not receive a visit from Saline people
once in a week; should the two places
be connected by an electric road a fast
friendship would speedily spring up.
Said Supt. Hemphill, of the D. Y. &
A. A., on the subject: "The Saline road
project met with favor at the business
men's meeting the other evening, I
know, but will action follow? It is
money and hustle that counts, not
merely encouraging talk. You see it
dosen't make any differene to the D.
Y. & A. A. where the Saline road connects. It might exactly as well meet at
Ann Arbor as here, in fact a junction at
Ann Arbor would be money in our
pockets. Every traveler from Saline
to a point in our line east of Ypsilanti
would pay the D. Y. & A. A. 10 cents
more if he came via Ann Arbor than if
the road struck directly into Ypsilanti.
The thing for Ypsilanti to do is to take
up part of the bonds and make the
road a matter of personal importance.
