Table Mountain Ropeway.
Engineering Magazine: The ropeway located at Table Mountain is an
important example of a line 5,280 feet
long. It consists of a single fixed
rope on wbich one carriage is drawn
to and fro with an endless hauling
rope, the driving gear baying reversing motion so that tbe direction of
travel of the carrier can be controlled.
Commencing at sea level, and following tbe ground on posts spaced about
300 feet apart, the cable takes a span
of 1,500 feet, rising to a projecting rock
some 1,480 feet above the starting
point. Resting on a support at this
point, tbe cable again takes a span of
1,400 feet to an upper terminal 2,201}
feet above tbe lower one. This rape-
way has worked so satisfaetorily that
it is not only used for the carriage of
materials employed in the construction
of a reservoir but is at times used for
passengers.

Mountain toothache is a new addition to our bodily ills. It nas attacked engineers and laborers on the
Jungfrau railroad at a height of S.500
feet above sea level as a jumping
toothache that attacks several teeth at
a time, lasts seven or eight days, and
leaves the patient with a swollen face,
whicb it takes another week to reduce. After that the teeth are acclimated and give no further trouble.—

Plymouth Binding Twine
A Comparative, Statement showing the Cost and Value of Binding
Twine, based on the'supposition that a farmer needs, to bind his grain,
300 pounds of Plymouth Sisal, or Standard Twine, which runs 505 feet
to the pound*.
Three hundred pounds of Plymouth Standard or Sisal will give him ■
151,500-feet.
];51,,500,f t. of 505 ft. to. tbe lb.., weighs 300 lbs. @ 14c will cost 842.00
151,500 ft. of -SO ft. to the lb., weighs 315f lbs. @ 14e will cost S-4.1.
151,500 ft. of 470 ft. to the lb., weighs 322A lbs. @ 14c will cost S45.13
151,500 ft. of 450 ft. to the lb , weighs 336| lbs. @ 14e will cost $47.1'3
151,500 ft. of 430 ft. to the lb., weighs 352^ lbs. @ 14c will cost S49.33
We have recently tested twine sent us for examination, that averaged
a little less than 430 feet to ihe pound.
The PLYMOUTH Twines are the only ones of these grades that run
505 feet to the pound. You saye by buying them, over the lowest
grade, ST.33 on 300 pounds, or S2.44 per 100: or 2 44-100 cents per
pound. Therefore, if Plymouth sells for 14 cents per pound, the other
should sell for 11 66-100 cents, to be as cheap, and others m proportion
The Moral is. buy PLYMOUTH Twine, and save money, and the
" auuoyance of loose bundles, caused by poor twine.
