The following letter concerning the
enterfMnhient to be given here Saturday evening was received by Mr.
Tooze from Mrs. Towne, chairman of
the Entertainment Committee at Elk
Rapids: "Personally I feel compelled
to write you and in the name of the
''Sorosis" say how very much we enjoyed the entertainment given by the
Bell Ringers last evening. It was a
delightful entertainment and was
thoroughly enjoyed by the large aud-
ienoe present. We had been so anxious that this first number should be
well received, for it means a great
deal to a Lecture Course committee
and particularly so to us as the course
last year was not at all satisfactory,
and should all the numbers-, to follow,
this winter prove as good as the one
last evening we 'shall be more than
satisfied."
The Graphophone in Religious Work
(FSrom the Chicago Inter-Ocean.)
"These are the days," says John
Alexandrie Bowie, "wheiMhe wonders
of science are heing chained to the
chariot of Zioh. During the week we
have given qiuch attention to the use
of the Graphophone for Zion purposes.
We have supplied Overseer "Voliva and
his, party with no less than forty-two
cylinders, each,containing from four to
five minutes' speech. They took these
with them on" their long journey
around the world, and aiso two splendid instruments wbich will enable
them to reproduce Our words in distant
lands.
"Overseer Jane Dowie spoke into
the instrument a brief address to the
women of Zion in Australia, and she
also repeated the discourse which she
delivered in the Chicago Auditorium
when she was installed in tbe office of
principal overseer of women's work in
Zion throughout the world.
"Her clear, ringing tones are well
reproduced in the record, and her
works will, we trust, be Of much blessing to our sisters in Australia, as they
have been to tens of thousands in
America."
Never such a season as this.. Everybody Wants a Cloak.. * Complete*-
and*unmistakable change of style makes last year's garments impossible. ' *
- The new effects are in now for three or four seasons. Buy a CLOAK
this year and have it in style for several years and get the good" of it.
Our CLOAK ROOM has been a *iory busy place lately, for'in np "other

Burns Any Fuel
One of the advantages of the
ROUND OAK
STOVES
is adaptibility. v
It is not only the best heater for getting all of the heal out of
the fuel and reducing fuel bills, but it can be used for any fuel that
is the most convienient or the least expensive to you.
It will burn hard, soft coal or wood. It burns all of them
equally well and at a greater saying of expense, and with more
cleanljnhss and less work than any qth"er stove made.
This is because'all the doors are ground on and are air tight,
and the ash pit is in a single piece~withont any cracks to le^lf.

Post-Office Robberies.
There is some talk, in" view of the
recent big stamp rohhery iu Chicago
and of numerous small robberies in
various parts of the country, of askinjf
Congress to legislate against the sale
of stamps by anyone not authorized to
sell them" by the government. Such a
law would doubtless have a tendency
to diminish the number of post-office
burglaries but ou the other hand it
would work a hardship to a great many
concerns who now receive numerous
small remittanc3s in stamps, unless
some system of redemption were provided at post-offices and subtreas-
uries.
