YPSILANTI, MICH,
The Carnegie "Library for Ann Arbor is reported as an assured thing.
Wonder if it is? *
The chorister at one of the churches
of Chelsea, evidently had been using a
tin horn on Memorial day, for on the
following.day, he* was so hoarse that
he couldn't as much, as announce a
hymn,

, An Ann Arbor" freight train struck
a cow about three miles north of Milan
and ditched the engine and eight load-,
ed freight cars. ' The conductor had
his collar bone Droken and both shoulders dislocated, and the fireman * was
slightly hurt. »
Fish, in the small lakes around Hudson are believed to be diseased and are
being found dead and strewn along the
shore in large numbers. It is feared
the lakes will be depopulated before
the season closes. The cause for the
trouble, or what the trouble is, is as'
yet a mystery and Is alarming the
people as. their summer fishing is evidently ruined for a. time at least. ,
Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Butterfield of Detroit, formerly of Ann Arbor, made a
trip to New Mexico with Ashley Pond,
Michigan Central attorney and met
with a series of mishaps. On the way
down, they encountered the floods in
Kansas and was in a collision on their
return but escaped injury. They were
also obliged to change their route in
order to avoid the floods In the Southwest.

WEAK, IRREGULAR,
PAINFUL HEARTS.
Sometimes the heart.grows irregular
—is "the seat of pain and pressure.:
People are apt to think it due to some
organic or structural disease of that
organ, when the.cause is comparatively simpler—a weakened motor power—
atrouble wholly due to the nervous
system,, perh&ps aggravated by a nervous dyspepsia. Put the nervous sysr
tem right—give it strength and tone—
supply through its medium the heart
with power and the stomach with digestive juices and the trouble fade's
like snow in a summer sun. It is for
thi3 wonderful power Dr. A. W. Chase's
Nerve Pills are world famous.
Mrs. Elizabeth Kierstead of 519 5th
Ave., Ana Arhor, Mich., says: "I was
feeling run down, weak and nervous-
heart irregular and stomach weak last;
winter when Ls.aw Dr. A. W. Chase's
Nerve Pills recommended and got a
box. As a result of their use I no
longer fsufler.as I did with the nervous
heart trouble—my stomach has become strong, T rest well at night and
feel stronger in every way. I can recommend the medicine to others as reliable, Safe and certain." For further
information call at Weinmann & Matthews' Drug Store, Saline, Mich. 50e

In talking With him about Sunday

'••I am surprised that you'should come
out here on this measure. . When I
appointed you, and people criticised
me for doing it, I told them that I was
trying to give you a chance to show
that yau could be a good, upright citizen, but this doesn't look like it."—
Ex.
A Clinton- county farmer's cow became sick and a veterinary was called.
The doctor noticed a bunch on the
cow's side and at first thought that the
animal was suffering from a broken
rib, and a sharp piece of the .fractured
bone vyfts prioking through the skins.
He made an incision and found the'end
of an umbrella rib, and drew out the
whole piece about two. feet in length.
The cow had swallowed it, the end
piercing the lining of the stomach and
one end of the lung aud coming out between the ribs.—'Livingston Democrat;.
The city niarshall of Mt. Clemens recently received the following letter:
"High Sheriff: Look for my wife.
She left jny home third of may. Her

flowers in it. Little earrings with star

her let me know at once." The policeman who could find a woman from such
a description as that, could even find a
way to prosecute a saloon that does
business Unlawfully.—Ex. ^
Thb girl who poses as a street flirt is
the girl whose name may be heard in
places where men congregate to revel
in idlfe words. ' At such gatherings the
girl whose name and actions are above
reproach Is never mentioned. But the
girl who gads the street, loafs at the
corners in noiFy debate with men or
hangs around in the way at business
houses, who seeyi to think the world
and strangers especially are just dying
of love for hejr, who attracts the attention of strrnge men at every opportunity, and who is flip and bombastic
with her vocll organs when conversing
with male friends—that, is the girl
whom the ccmnnunity mentions with a
sneer and w'aose actions are made the
topic of lustijui conversation when the
