Ypsilanti enjoyed a trotting matinee
last Friday.
Mrs. Mary .Lang of Ann Arbor, died
Friday aged 87 years.
The soldier's monument was unveiled at Milan last week Wednesday.
Mrs. Margaret Welch of Ypsilanti,
died last week Tuesday, aged 67 years.
Blissfield's two banks recently paid
out in one day- §5100,000 for live stock
shipped irom there.
D. Tj. Quirk, Jr. of Ypsilanti, narrowly escaped death while attempting
to rescue a cow from drowning.in the
Peninsular mill pond last week.
The following notice was seen tacked
on a disabled bridge not far from here

Dundee had only one boy in a graduating class of seven last week, but he
made up in avoirdupois for lack of
numbers, as he weighed, about 300

Three young men of Ypsilanti, are
now under^ arrest and in the city jail
for theft. "The boys were under suspicion for sometime because of repeated
disappearance of articles from stores.

Cain, in killing Abel. In a few days a
chap came iu a,nd asked him to state
that tbe Cain that committed murder

as he wasn't tbat kind of a man.—

It is now proposed to authorize postmasters and deputies to open letters on
which no postage stamps have been
placed, to learn the name Of the writer
and avoid sending it to the dead letter
office. If all who write would have
name and address printed on the envelopes they use, as the postoffice directs, no such trouble would arise.—

A joke was played on a Novi man
oue day this week by two ladies "stealing" his horse and buggy, which he
had left standing in front of a house,
and. going for a-ride. He imagined all
sorts of things when he came out and
found that his rig had disappeared,
bat the cream Of the joke 'lay in the
fact that the leader of the escapade
was a young lady of 86 and her companion another of'past three score and

his friends, appreciates a kindness and
is always ready to return a favor. Iu
other respects he resembles his fellow-
men. He will not continue to pat a
man on the back, tell him what a
prominent citizen he is, how much he
has done, and give.him personal puffs'
when tbat man will not aid in sup
porting the paper. In other words, he
stands for the man who stands by him.
That's about the way of the world, and
a newspaper man can't be expected to
