On Monday last Ann Arbor reaped
part of the crop she has sowed in her
easymanuer of dealing with the tramp
question. On that day gangs of hoboes paraded the streets, begging at
every house and insulting defenseless
women. The officers had a hand to
hand fight with one gang of nine of
them, when they were called to arrest
them, and had to beat them into sub-
missiveness. AU of which goes to

Wednesday morning Rural Mail
Carrier Colegi was about to start
out on his regular trip, in a light open
buggy, Used because of the bad road,
when, pointing to his horse, he said,
"There's a faithful beast, she's 17
years old and yet she has traveled 25
miles a'day for 630 consecutive working days, carrying the mail and myself over all sorts of roads and in all
conditions of weather. That's a
pretty good horse record."—Morenci

Frequent Sprayings.
The novice in spraying cannot afford to be so careless about his sprayings that he will miss the end for
which he is working. Neitfcar should
he try to get along with the fewest
possible number of sprayings. The
best sprayers have indeed reduced the
number to the minimum, but they
are experienced men that have
learned to make every spraying count
for the most possible.
In many cases it has been found
that so far as the orchard is concerned, four sprayings in spring give
the greatest returns, while spraying

fruit. The additional sprayings cost

worth, as a general thing.
, Tailing all things into consideration the method that will pay the hest
consists in spraying the trees as soon
as the blossoms fall and then every
two weeks till four sprayifigs haye
been given. The sprayings must he
Well done if they are to be of any
value. Slipshod work will not
prove effective in preventing the ravages of insect and fungous pests.
Leaving the work to the boys is never profitable. "It requires mature Judgment and thoroughness to do the work
as it should he done.
