A, A. & J. Ry. line has inaugurated
carioad freight service using trains as
high as four cars. They have especially designed motors fpg thjs ^se and

men claim that the train is as easily
controlled as is a single car.
Concrete railroad ties have proved
a failure, and gfjQ p.f them that were
laid, or the L.ake Shore some time ago

ties under the p-essure of the heavy
engines and jar-of traffic, began to disintegrate 'and many almost weut to
pieces before they could be taken out.

The purchaser, of a bunch of Parma
violets in "Lojiden found that it had a
strange "smell, partly geranium and
partly something else. Closer examination showed that the inside of the
flowers was -white, and that the "vio*
lets" were .white double- geraniums.
The enterprising flo-wer seller had"
