It was reported at the Leader office
Saturday afternoon that a man bad
"got shot." Out the Leader pencil
pusher dashed iD search of the facts.
He chased that rumor until his poor,
weary limbs became almost numb from
over exertion, and then he staggered
inlo a nearby livery barn and hired an
automobile. Up'one and down another
of the paved streets he drove the machine, yelling now and then at some
pedestrian, "Who got shot'*1" At last
he struck the right man who called
back: "Dick Easlick got shot at a
hardware sior--*. He's going hunting.'
—Milan Leader.

"Oldest" Voter.
Two Herns in the Tecumseh News
are slightly conflicting:
"The eldest voter in Michigan, Monday, was probably Nathan Smith of
Adrian, who is 88 vears of age. Himself and wife recently celebrated their
64th wedding anniversary."
"The oldest man to vote at Monday's
election in Tecumseh, was Jacob
Cheever, who is 91 years old."
Brother News, we supposed that Tecumseh was in Michigan.
A Strange Sight.
Mr. Thomas Birketl, whose horne is
near Portage lake, live miles north of
Dexter, was greatly astonished yesterday while glanciug over tbe lake 10
see a flock of twenty-nine large, beautiful white swans floating gracefully
about on the water. All of the birds
weie snow white except three and they
were only slightly marked about their
throats. Tbey attracted much attention as such a sight had never before
been witnessed! in that vicinity. Two
or three have often been seen, but such
a number was a surprise.—Times.
Farmers Up-to-date.
■A special train with instructors from
lhe agricultural college, known as the
farmer's institute corn special will pass
through here next Tuesday but will
not stop. At Brooklyn aud Clinton
the train wi'l slop one hour and the
instructors will ba pleased to meet the
farmers and tell them how to seleot
corn to increase their yield. We don't
know why they skip through here
without stopping, unless they think
our farmers are more up to date t an
otbt'i's.—Manchester IiJ.iterprise.
