All Signs Fail
The Young Married People's -club
were entertained last night at the,
home of Prof. H. J. Goulding at
whist, four tables being in play. Half
the guests were given score cards
with Michigan and half with Pennsylvania colors and at the close the"'total
number of each were counted' and
for a breathless moment it looked as
if Pennsy was ahead until it was discovered that one lady who had 14
good scores on a Michigan card was
absent from the room assisting the
hostess in serving the refreshments.
When it was discovered that the final
score was -Michigan 58, Pennsylvania
43, the enthusiasm broke out in a
round of Michigan and locomotive
yells and the day was saved.—Ann Arbor News-Argus.
Auto On fire
The auto belonging to Dr. Gates of
147 East Liberty street is at Koch's
repair- shop hi bad condition the result
of someone setting fire to it in Lodi*
township sometime between Sunday
afternoon and Monday aft&moon.
Dr. Gates had a call in that direction Sunday and as he was coming
through Lodi township, one-half mile
south of the town line, his gasoline
gave out and he found himself stuck
in the mud. " He walked tb Geo.
Schnierle's and Mr. Schnierle brought
him to town. Monday all day the doctor was very-busy and unable to go
after the machine and it was Tuesday afternoon be'fore he was able to
start, taking Mr.' Koch with him tQ
help him bring the. machine in. When,
they arrived at the plaoe they, found
that someone had piled hay and.grass
around it and set it on fire. The engine is ruined and the machine badly
damaged. An expensive lap robe was
also stolen. Dr. Gates notified the
township officers but nothing has yet
been discovered that would point out
anyone as the perpetrator of the act.
Dr. Gates offers $50 reward for
any information that will lead to the
arrest and conviction of the offenders.

E*3Y YO OVERCOME WORRY.
.-i.n;:-'s Mental Treatment to Do Away
With Evil Habit.
Using human, happily or unhappily,
we cannot deny the comfort to be
found in the reflection-that misery
never lacks the company it loves.' We
all have our troubles, and some of us
derive much satisfaction from the contemplation- of them. Indeed," there are
those who are happy . only when
wretched; but these we believe to be
as. few in number as, they are disagreeable in association; the vast majority of humans are normal, and disposed; therefore, in conformity/with
natural law, to smile when the skies
are clear and to grieve under the jjor-
•tent of clouds. Hence the ease with
which worry takes possession of the
mind, colors-the disposition and makes
a cripple of effort. That causes abound
we know and-must admit, as we.do
'almost -. unconsciously the .. certainty-
of death; tiut too little .cognizance is
taken of the fact that the effect of
mere apprehension, .."whigh is all that
worry really is, may be subjected to
simple mental, treatment and be overcome—George Harvey in the Nortlf.

"Pittsburgh Perfect"
Fences The Best Because
" *. 1. Stays are Electrically Welded to the strands forming *a perfect union
and an amalgamation with the strands not found in any other fence.

this over carefully.
3. No wraps to get loose, to hold moisture and cause rust.
" * 4.* No projections to injure stock or tear wool from sheep.
, f 5. Stronger at the joints than.ii.ny other fence. Welded together with
■electricity.
. - 6. Guaranteed that the wire is not injured at tho joints.
'• 7. Guaranteed adjustable to uneven ground.
8. Guaranteed that stays will not separate from joints.
9. Guaranteed all right in every particular.
.10. Made by the most modern process and on the latest improved machinery.
.- - 11. Most of the weak* points in other fences are on account of the -ray
the stays are fastened, _
Onr stays are amalgamated with the strands by means of electricity aud
the strength of the fence increased a hundredfold over tbe strength of a
fence*where the stays are wrapped or clamped on the strands. —
-You may pay more, money for other fences but you caonot-get as good a
fence as "Pittsburgh Perfect.".
