Landmark Torn Down.
One of the oldest landmarks and
relics of the history of Web3ter disappeared Thursday from the farm of
John Schultz,- when the old frame
building, which was a later addition
to the old log house which served as
the family residence of "the first settler,
a Mr. Matthews, was torn down. The
original log house has the distinction*
of being one of the first houses tn the
township of Webster,, and was" built
and.owned by a brother-in-law of the
late Judge Dexter in the year 3826.—

Good Wishes. .
New Year's greetings seem a" little
belated close on to February, but the
"Happy New Year wish" 'was sent
Jan. 1 from Uto, Kumamoto-Ken;
Japan, and takes a month- to reach
here by letter. The greeting comes
to the Times from Hisaslu Ito, formerly a student here in the law department of the University. . Mr. Ito left
college at the time of the Japanese
war and has since held a government
position.—Times. "

HOW TO WASH MIRRORS.
Soft Rag Dipped in Alcohol Will Keep"
Them in Condition.
"*'"•£•'■ ■ \':y« ■-- ;**'*■! ••'." . . ■<-.-!
Some persons have a difficulty^ in
keeping mirrors in' proper condition,
but a soft rag dipped in alcohol and*

'"Frames can be kept in good condition by wiping often-with a'soft rag.
If the frame is a ,gopd^ quality of gilding rit may bewa's'rie'cf'with soap and
water when necessary, but the cheaper, ordinary gilt frames should never
be touched with water. "When they "begin
to blacken a rag moistened ' lightly
with turpentine will usually restore

Why Different Results; Are Obtained
With One Man's Product.
. One of the most common causes for
dissatisfaction with selling cream is
the variations in the test. This is
.especially true when eaph can of
cream is tested separately whieh is
now considered the best method.
It is quite sa puzzle to the average
man who has not had much experience with cream separators ito understand why his test varies when the
same separator, run by the same man,
is used all the time and ihe cow's
feed is not changed, hiilrthij tests do
Tary -and this fact does not "indicate
-that careless -testing is being done as
it -is"practically- impossible to run a
separator, under farm conditions? without having the cream vary; in fact
if the cream test always the same, it
would be more suspicious than when
it varies Slightly. The causes are:
1. "Variation in speed of separator.
,2. Variation in rate of feeding separator.
3. * Amount of water or *skim milk
used for flushing bowl.
"4. Changes in per# cent, of butterfat in milk:
5. Changes in cream screw.
A change in the speed of running a
separator at once changes the per
- cent, of butterfat in cream. The higher it is speeded the greater the amount
of skim milk thrown out and this results _ in giving a smaller amount of
higher testing cream; a low speed
gives a larger ..quantity of thinne*'
cream. „. „ '
Many separator users think they
always feed the separator at the same
rate on account of the float governing
the inflow; this is not the ease, as at
times the faucet is not 'opened quite
its full capacity, or at one time the
milk tank is kept full of milk, which
.makes the*, inflow some faster than
at another.,*time when the tank may he
allowed to run low most of" the time;
whenever the flow* of milk into the
bowl is increased a larger amount of
"thinner cream results. *
A common cause of variation in
cve^m tests is connected with flushing the howl. It is a very easy matter to vary** a pint or more in the
amount" of water or skim'milk used
"for flushing, and this alone may be
sufficient-to change the test of cream
*.3-'to 5.per cent.
* _ How to Avoid Appendicitis
• '-Most" victims of appendicitis are
.those, who are habitually constipated.
Orino Laxativ.e Fruit Syrup cures
chronic, constipation by stimulating
the liver and bowels and restores the
natural action "of the bowels. Orino
Laxative-Fruit Syrap aoes not nauseate or gripe and is.mild and pleasant" to take. Refuse substitutes.

a half teaspoonful of'salt and. two
.teaspoonfuls of baking powder and
rub in three tablespoonfuls of, shortening. Add one cupful of light freshly mashed'potatoes, add one well-beaten egg and enough milk to make a
soft dqugh.'* Roll out half inch "thick.
cut and hake on a hot griddle ir in a
hot,oven. 'Serve "very'hot with* plenty
nf butter.
Fences The Best Because
1. Stays arc Electrically Welded to the strands forming a perfect union
and an amalgamation with the strands not found in any other fence.
2. All stay wires are made as heavy as intermediate line wires. A
fence, like a chain, is only as strong as the lightest material in it. Think
this over carefully.
3. 2"fo wraps to get loose", to hold moisture and cause rust.
<L No projections to injure stock or tear wool from sheep.
5. Stronger at the joints than any other fence. Welded together with
electricity.
6. Guaranteed that the wire is not injured at the joints.
Guaranteed adjustable to uneven ground.
Guaranteed that stays will not separate from joints. ■
Guaranteed all right in every particular.
Made by the most modern process and on the latest improyed ma^
chinery.
11. Most of the Sveak points in other fences are on account of the ^ay
the stays are fastened,
Our stays are amalgainatdd with the strands by means of electricity' and
the strength of the fence increased a hundredfold over the strength of a
fence where the stays are wrapped or clamped on the strands.
You may pay mpre money for other fences bub you cannot get as good a
fence ss "Pittsburgh Perfect."
