It ls only common-sense, anyway
—that you must cure a condition
by removing the cause of. the-condition. And lame 'and aching hack
are not by any means" the only
symptoms of derangement .ot the
kidneys and bladder. . There tare ,a
multitude of well-known an'dl_xt-.
mistakable indications of a more or
less ftangero'us condition. -Some of
these '.are, for .instance: -_- Extreme
end unnatural lassitude and'weari-
ness, nervous irritability, heart irregularity, "nerves on edge," sleeplessness and inability to secure
rest, scalding sensation and sediment.in the urine, inflammation of
the bladder and passages, etc.
DeWitt's Kidney and Bladder

AROUND THE HOUSE
MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS OF GENERAL INTEREST.
Pretty Miniature Statues in Terra Cot-
ta Come from Sicily—Sugges-
. tions for Dainty Bureau Cover—Scrim Curtains.
One of Boston's leading florists was
In Sicily at the time of the recent
-.; earthquake, and
came across a
peasant man - and
his wife -who were
starving. He gave
them some money
to get materials
for a little -pottery
work, and went
.away. He returned in a-few days and was surprised to find that the peasants had
made some Of the most exquisite, little terra cotta statuettes depicting
peasant life which they know so well.
The detail' is wonderfully worked out
The florist ,gave them a large order,
and these picturesque little handmade ornaments are now to be had
at very reasonable prices.
A very pretty night set is of dandelion yellow glazed.china, gold rimmed.
The set consists of candlestick, match
box, tray, water pitcher and thin glass
tumbler. Another attractive pattern
is white delicately striped with gold. :
A dainty bureau cover is of white
lawn, bare-edged, with little bay trees
delicately tinted and outlined with
floss and garlands of pink, blue, yellow and green flowers and leaves embroidered as a border. The pincushion is made to match the cover.
A gorgeous Japanese screen had a
frame of exquisitely carved light
wood, and the panels were, decorated
With large hand-embroidered poppies
In pretty shades of pinks, greens and
deep rose color. •
Printed scrim is one of the newest
and most popular curtain materials. It
comes in pretty colorings In arts and
crafts designs. Some of it is double-
faced, which is an advantage. It is
very inexpensive.
Every housekeeper knows what a
tiresome task it is to grate up bread
and cracker crumbs, so will be glad
to know that they may be purchased
by the package.
Some very beautiful willow chairs
for the summer house are enameled
in light gray and have cushions of
gray-white cretonne figured with wisteria. ' * ' ■ ■
Very odd and interesting are the
Navajo Indian silver spoons, with Indian heads on the handles.
Mexican straw waste paper baskets
are a'useful and decorative addition to
the summer living room.
Walls hung with Japanese grass
cloth are artistic and form an excellent background for pictures. '
A watering pot with a long, slender
spout is hand for watering around the
roots of plants.
There is nowhere that the individuality is so. plainly stamped as in one's
home.
An obsolutely clean, white porcelain
sink is most attractive in the kitchen.
Quite the fashionable thing is the
old-time, comfortable Boston 'rocker.
The__ quaint Barnstable rocker is
quite a favorite nowadays.—Boston
Herald.

Ask National Target Range.
Army ofiicers are suggesting a national target range which will be sufficient for all kinds of practice "for'
the army, navy and marine corps,"
from pistol shooting to field artillery..
it is proposed to acquire by purchase!
fifteen or twenty thousand acres of*
land in Virginia near 'Washington.
This could be so arranged that all of.
tke target practice in this part of the
country as well as competition shoot-'
ing could be held here. A proposal?
that the government purchase Camp
Perry, the Ohio, target range, is not"
well received. Camp Perry is not-
adapted to mixed firing under actual'
campaign conditions. An appropria-:
tion from congress may be asked to.
buy the Virginia tract.
Do not he deceived by unscrupulous
imitators who would have you believe
that the imitation pills are as good as
DeWitt's Kidney and Bladder Pills.
There isn't anything just as good as
these wonderful pills for the relief
of Back-ache, Weak Back, inflamation
of the bladder, urinary disorders and
all kidney complaints. Any One can.
take DeWitt's Kidney and Bladder
Pills as directed in perfect confidence
of good results. Sold by all, druggists. 3

Shortcake for Breakfast.
"Until I spent six months in New-
England I have always regarded shortcake, whatever the fruit used, as a
dish for dinner, a dessert," said a
woman from the middle states. "But
in Vermont they frequently serve a
delicious .shortcake, the genuine kind,
'made with shprtbread, not cake, for-
breakfast. Sometimes strawberries or.
raspberries were usefl, thei} w sgason
peaches.
"Having assimilated the new idea,
1 found myself beginning to look for
a delicious wedge of shortcake in the
morning, and to miss it when "it was
not forthcoming."

Box for Towels.
If there are no drawers for the purpose, an excellent substitute for keeping the kitchen^ towels in order is a
box.
It is no,t necessary to get a regular
shirtwaist box; a plain box from the
grocer's will answer.
Cover it with a dark denim.
Fasten two partitions in the inside,
so there will be three separate compartments for the towels and you will
then have a place for the coarser dish
towels, the glass towels and the
kitchen hand towels.
