Last'week * we briefly noted' the
meeting of >the Civic League? held on
Wednesday evening, March 4{ but we
couldn't mention all the good things
talked, over and which are on the tapis for future work. ■ .
' A. great many are under the impression f.the League is a de'ad one, but
this is far. from facts. It is true it
has made but little noise to date, but
arslumbering-fire is apt to, burst into
a bright name "at any time, and this
seems to be.the-case with this earnest
body of town boosters.

A couple of ideas taken up at the
last meeting will be accomplished
soon', even if the funds have to be taken, from the league treasury. It is
proposed to have street signs—about
sixty of.them, which may be fastened
to the houses at the principal corners.

the list, andleague members feel we
should and will get there.
A big meeting is planned for Sunday afternoon at an early date, when
all can be "present and listen ,to experts on civic betterment and beautifying, at which time an effort will be
made to stimulate a heartier interest
in civic affairs. It is hoped to have
tlie orchestra present and sufficient

hearts and minds of all who can be

j This is not all that the league
stands for, but it is enough to let all
know thy are not chasing will o' the
-wisps or dreaming impossible things.
Two hundred nineteen votes were
cast on' Monday. That means the
league should have a membership at
least that large and a good; attendance

a year to belong, if for;" no
