Yonr Attention for Just a Few Minutes.'
The Grand Army Post and the Women's Relief Corps of the city of Ann
Arbor have for years been trying to
raise enough money, to erect a MemOr-
riaHn the shape of a mdn anient to the
four thousand eighty-three soldiers
who enlisted from Washtenaw county.
The two organizations have succeeded ■
in raising in all these years -$2,250.00
toward this memorial, but we realize!
now that we are unable to raise the ■
balance without help from the voters •
of the county. |

of year to do it, and we have ths goods, at very low prices.
Washtenaw county, who offered their
lives for the preservation of. our nation, and that generations to follow
might enjoy peace.
This Memorial is for the Whole County
Do not let it go forth that Washtenaw county is lacking in patriotism to
her four thousand and eighty-three
valiant sons, and more, especially!
when the voters are asked to vote for
less than half the sum needed.

the above number never returned, but
sleep in unknown graves, in trenches
and where they fell on the field of
battle. Four hundred and seventy-
seven mothers, wives and sisters were
left to mourn their death. These are
the men teg-ether with those who have
passed over the silent river since the
struggle from '61 to '65, not forgetting
those brave women who were left at*
home that Washtenaw county can
never forget, and this memorial is for
the perpetuation of their memory.
If the voters today can see their "way
dear to vote, "Yes," on the county
supervisor's proposition, it will swell
the fund to $3,750.00 which will .leave a
balance of $333 to raise,.which the
committee will try and dos .It's our
desire that every man, woman and
child who has a home in Washtenaw
county, share in * this memorial tp
the old soldiers, not forgetting, the
Spanish war Veterans.'' •**•'* *
It will cost each-taxpayerin Washtenaw county but four. (4) rcents for
each $1,000.00 assessed valuation.
The amount is so*-small and the cause
so meritorious, it is. hoped that all
patriotic citizens will vote, "Yes," .- .
In: conclusion, will this appeal-to
the voters for a monumenj to Washtenaw county soldiers be in vain? We
would very much like to see thi*s: me-
sinorial erected on the court house
square in a spot already granted by
the supervisors, before all surviving
old soldiers have passed over the .silent river. Please do hot turn..down
the propositipn so generously granted
by the .county supervisors.
Women taxpayers may Vote oh'this
proposition. -'•* • • CO
