ROCK & HARTMAN
hood was deeply interested in religion. She became a member of the
Macon Presbyterian church in her
teens and retained her^. membership
with this church du***aig* her life.
On November 11, 1873 she was united-in marriage to Timothy 1-iiaro
Collins. They resided on the farm
in southern Saline township until the
spring of 1907, when they moved to
the village of Saline.
Mrs. Collins' Hast illne.s was of
few weeks' duration and she grew
gradually weaker until she fell,
peacefully .asleep in Jesus, Tuesday
evening, November 25, 1919.
This mjother has left to mourn their
loss, a husband and four chi.dten;
Grace and Guy S. of Saline and
Guernsey Pennington and Gertrude
Elizabeth of Ann Arbor, alsa four
grandchildren and three sisters and
two brothers, Mrs. Eleanor Cotton of
Clinton, Mrs W. S. Morden and Mrs.
AV. M. Fowler of Saline, Mark and
Baron Pennington of Macon.
Besides the more immediate relatives she will be lovingly remembered by a large circle of
neighbors and friends, who have
been associated with her and have'
come to appreciate her unselfish life.
William Pennington, the original
pioneer of trie Pennington family,
came frorrt England in 1697 and settled in New Jersey. Jchn Penning
ton, father of the deceased, came tc
Michigan in territorial days, settling
in the township of Logan, since
called Raisin, Lenawee county, in
1829. and in the spring ofl831 movec
with his >|amily' to Macon. Mrs. Collins delighted to recall the early traditions of her family and with her
friends and loved ones woufld often
recount the scenes and experiences
Of pioneer" days' of Michigan.
The deceased was warmly attached
to her many friends, but as a true
mother she was devoted to her home
and family where her ur.'.iiing efforts were spent for the welfare of
others.
This good womjan walked with Jesus in quiet, 'unassuming ways. She
was modest and retiring in manner,
one of those cheering personalities,
we love to meet and cherish because
of their innate goodness and genuine worth of character. Her children, recalling hor many gentle deeds,
call her blessed. Her husband fullj'
■realizes the loss he has sustained,
cherishes her loving memory and all
who knew Mrs. Collins willingly
recognize that the world has) been
made the better by tho living of tliis
noble life.
The funeral services conducted by
Rev. W. H. Hoffman, were held at
her late home in Saline on South Ann
Arbor street, Saturday, November 29,
at the hour of 12, then at 1:30 at
the Presbytrian church in Macon.
