If You Were
Managing
a Bank
You would wish to do these things.
First and foremost yon would wish to-
so lend the funds entrusted to your care
that there could be no possible loss to
any of your depositors. *
Secondly you would wish to lend those
funds in a way to best serve the interests
■of your community.
Lastly you would desire the service offered by your bank to be at all times both
friendly and helpful.
These are the things you would wish to
do. They are the things which the ofS-
cers of this bank have in mind in its
management.

A number of communities in Michigan are looking for suggestions as to
how to use to best advantage th<?
money they -will make in the Christmas seal sale that begins Thanksgiving Day and continues until Christmas. Two-thirds of the funds, made
in that sale remain in the home community to be used for some kind of
tuberculosis or general health work.
The Memorial Circle of the King's
Daughters of Durand are using their
money to make a gene#_l school survey, with a view to discovering hidden cases of tuberculosis! and other
diseases, as. well as cases qf^-hildrea
who would be likely to'^fegome victims of the disease because ot undernourishment or for any other causo.
They have employed a nurse for a
month to conduct the survey, whicjti
is being backed by the board of education, as well as by tOi- doctors and
dentists of the community.
Such, a sunvey is a splendid piece
of public health, vwork, and the Michigan Tuberculosis association suggests it as a way of making good use
of local seal sale money. It is but
one way of many however, the association! points out.

The increasing interest and attendance in the Sunday school this time
of the year is most gratifying.
Splendid reports come fr<:m the
junior congregation last Sabbath
both as to interest and attendance
and to Miss Miller'- leadership.
The ahurcih extends heartfelt sympathy to Mrs. Gregory in her great
misfortune in hrea_ung her limh and
assures her of- an abiding interest in

SHIRLEY MASON COMES
IN "THE LMIPLIGHTS-R"
Sshirley Mason,, the popular William Pox star, has had so many
screen successes written for her that
it has seemed almost impossible to
follow her triumphs ip "Her. Elephant Man" and "Winig Toy," for example, with any phptodrania equally
stiwn&
The seemingly impossible Iras been
acCjomplished, •according +.o advance
information from the producer, who
announces that "The Lamplighter" is
a finer screen subject than anything
in<which Miss Mason heretofore has
appeared.
"The Lamplighter" was written by
Maria Cummins, and she is said to
have turned out aai exceptionally
strpng and unusually beautiful story
—one which affords Miss Mason a

Donald MoBetli, a violinist of extraordinary ability, whose name has
been linked with McCormack's owing
to the many engagements which they
have filled jointly. Edwin Schneider,
one of the finest accompanists, will,
also appear in the .program..
An attractive feature of MeCormaek
recitals is the fact that Mr. McjCor-
mack is always generous with encores and usually includes about as
many unannounced numbers as are
scheduled on the formal program.
Among the-unannounced niumbers are
invariably found such beautiful
songs as ""Mother Macree,'' which
have geepme inseparably linked with
his name .
In spite of the fact that the sale of
course tickets for the Choral Union
Series has been the largest in the
history of the Choral Union, additional requests for tickets are being
received daily anid the management
is making arrangements to provide
seats for ai couple of hundred people
on the stage and also to sell a limited
n-mfoer of standing room tickets.
Orders. for tickets will be filled in
the order of receipt so long as tho
supply holds out.
