LOSES WATCH STOCK
Along "With Departure of Fred Fair-
■b-iiiks Mr. Chii-t's Stock of New
Watches Vanishes.
Fred Fairbanks, who has been employed at H. E. Ormsby's barber shop
for the past four months, took sudden
-leave of Saline la,-st Wednesday morning about six o'clock-and, it is siis-
■picioned, took with him about $250
worth of -new watches from E. A.
Clark's safe, and about $15 in cash oe-
longing to Ormsby.
Till ere is considerable mystdry connected with, Fairbanks, and it is unlikely that he -will be caught, since_no
one'seems to know where he lives or

"While it is believed that the man is
/not' a professional crook, indications'
are-that he siczed an excellent opportunity to maike his get-away. With
Ormsby laid up with blood poisoning,
Clairk bad taken charge of the barber
shop""1 in a part of'which Glark keeps
his safe, work bench, etc. The latter
.had been away from the shop all day
on insurance business, "and several
pressing engagements in the evening
kctpt him Jfrom' return-in-*: to lock tlhe
safe before going home, fully trusting
Fairbanks* who lived in a small room
in the rear of the .barber shop.
-When Ciai'f-'-aiTued at his place of
business Wednesday morniing he found
the safe locked, and upon invest-ga.-
t:on discovered that it had been robbed. Mrs. Fred Scilimid, who lives' up-
staiis in the adjoining building, ^aw

Further investigation by both' Clark
and Ormsby showed that several re-

- touched, .as well as some $30 in money

Fairbanks came to^Saline last-August, supposedly ..from Detroit, driving
a Briscoe roadster with a, Pennsylvania license. "While his chiairacter may
have been questiomaljle, he always got
